Your Wyze camera won't connect, and you're stuck at setup, an offline message, or a stream that never loads. Each problem needs a different fix. Start with the quick checks below, then work through the Wi-Fi and app settings before reaching for the reset button.
Start with power and a live-stream check
Check the camera’s power and status light. Light meanings differ by model, so the same color does not mean the same thing on every Wyze camera.
Open the camera’s live stream. If it works despite an Offline message, follow Wyze’s recommendation to power cycle the camera and update its firmware using the sections below.
Test internet access on another device connected to the same router. If that device cannot get online either, resolve the router or internet problem before repeating camera setup.
Tip: App restart commands cannot reach a fully disconnected camera, so restore its power or network connection first.
Rule out an outage or an app control
Check Wyze’s Service Status & Known Issues page for an unresolved login, connectivity, or streaming incident. Follow its recovery instructions and retry after service returns.
If the camera is missing from Favorites, look under Home > Devices. Tap its star icon to add it to Favorites. For a grouped camera, open the group and select its individual stream.
For a stalled stream, tap the camera’s Retry icon under Home > Favorites when displayed. Use the Power icon to turn on a software-disabled camera. On supported Pan cameras, open the camera, swipe the menu below the stream if necessary, and turn off Privacy Mode.
On Battery Cam Pro, tap Play to start the stream. A wake-up time of approximately seven seconds is normal. To load streams automatically, turn off Power Saving Mode under the camera’s Settings > Advanced Settings.
Give the camera a physical restart
A physical power cycle restarts a camera that cannot receive an app restart command.
For a plug-in camera, disconnect power for at least 10 seconds.
Reconnect the camera to power.
For a hardwired camera, turn off its breaker for 10 seconds instead.
Restore breaker power.
For a camera with a removable battery, remove the battery for 10 seconds instead.
Reinstall the battery firmly.
On Wyze Cam Outdoor, use the rear power switch to turn the camera off.
Turn the Outdoor camera back on.
If a USB-powered camera still has no power, fully seat its cable at the camera and adapter.
Test another outlet using the original appropriate cable and adapter.
Substitute known-working compatible power accessories to isolate a failed cable or adapter.
Match the Wi-Fi network to your camera
An incorrect password or unsupported Wi-Fi band prevents setup from completing.
At Select your network, choose a network your camera supports. Cam v4 requires 2.4 GHz, as do Cam v2, v3, v3 Pro, and Pan v1 through v3.
Connect your setup phone to the 2.4 GHz network for those models.
Tap the password field’s eye icon to inspect the password.
Correct capitalization and remove unintended spaces.
For Cam v4 setup, place the phone and camera approximately 6 to 10 feet from the router.
For Pan v4, Battery Cam Pro, Duo Cam Doorbell, Floodlight Pro, or Video Doorbell Pro, try the other band if setup fails on one. These models support both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.
If a 2.4 GHz-only camera fails setup on a combined-band network, open the router’s app or web administration interface.
Use its Band Steering, Smart Connect, or Single SSID controls to give the bands separate names. Labels vary by router; Wyze Mesh Router and Mesh Router Pro cannot split bands and do not require this procedure.
Connect the phone to the separately named 2.4 GHz network.
Repeat camera setup on that network.
Alternatively, on a router with separate radio controls, temporarily disable its 5 GHz band.
Complete setup with the phone connected to 2.4 GHz.
Re-enable 5 GHz after the camera connects.
Use a conventional password-protected home network. Wyze’s camera network requirements exclude networks that require a webpage sign-in or an enterprise username and login.
Update the app and allow setup permissions
Check the installed Wyze version at Account > About. Search for Wyze in the App Store or Google Play Store and select Update when offered. The current app requires iOS 16 or later, or Android 10 or later on a 64-bit device.
For Bluetooth setup on iPhone or iPad, enable Wyze under Settings > Privacy & Security > Bluetooth. For local discovery, enable Wyze under Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network if listed. These entries appear after the app requests access.
For iPhone or iPad setup requesting location, turn on Location Services under Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services. Select Wyze and choose While Using the App or Always. Enable Precise Location.
On Pixel, open Settings > Apps > See all apps > Wyze > Permissions, allow requested Nearby devices access, and set Location to Allow only while using the app; other Android paths differ. For Bluetooth setup, including Cam v4 and Pan v4, refresh the phone’s Bluetooth connection by turning it off and back on. For Pan v4 or Base Station setup, temporarily disconnect phone and network VPNs through their own controls before retrying.
Stabilize a connection that keeps dropping
Weak coverage, interference, and inadequate upload bandwidth interrupt camera connections and streams.
Restart your Wi-Fi router. If multiple devices still cannot access the internet, resolve the router or ISP problem first.
On Battery Cam Pro and other models with this reading, open the camera’s Settings > Device Info > Signal Strength.
Move the camera closer to the router when it shows two bars or fewer.
Test connection speed at different times to assess upload bandwidth. Requirements vary by camera and selected resolution.
Check how many network devices are active.
Move the camera or router to reduce interference from appliances, furniture, and walls.
Lower the live-stream resolution using Stream Quality. For Battery Cam Pro, Wyze recommends HD instead of 2.5K when bandwidth is inadequate.
Test the camera’s stream with your phone connected to Wi-Fi.
Test the same stream over the phone’s cellular data. Keep the camera connected to its own network; different results isolate a problem with the phone’s viewing connection.
For persistent dead zones, consider a range extender for a distant outdoor camera or a mesh network with appropriately placed nodes.
Configure that equipment using its manufacturer’s instructions.
Reconnect after a router or password change
You do not need to delete most standalone Wyze cameras for an ordinary Wi-Fi change. On a replacement router, use the previous network name and password while retaining a camera-compatible band and security configuration.
If the network credentials have changed, remove the camera’s microSD card before repeating setup.
Open Home > + > Device > Cameras and select your camera model.
For an offline Cam v3, v3 Pro, Pan v3, or Pan v4, single-press the hardware SETUP button to start setup.
Complete setup with the current network credentials.
For a supported camera that is still online, use its Settings gear > Device Info > Network > Change instead. This requires supporting firmware and app version 3.11 or later for Cam v3 and Pan v3, 3.12 or later for Pan v4, or 3.14 or later for v3 Pro.
Enter the new network name and password.
Tap Connect while staying near the camera. The Change control is unavailable once the camera is offline.
Outdoor v1 and v2 use a separate procedure. Do not delete an offline Outdoor camera or Base Station, because this prevents re-setup.
For a reachable Base Station, open its Settings gear > Device Info > Wi-Fi Network.
Follow the prompts for the new network.
If setup still fails, try another compatible phone or camera-supported Wi-Fi network before proceeding to firmware recovery or a model-specific reset.
Recover firmware before a last-resort reset
Try a firmware update before a factory reset, which erases configuration and requires setup again.
- 1.Open Account > Firmware Update and install available updates for the camera and associated hardware, such as a Base Station. Restore physical connectivity first if the offline camera cannot receive the update.
- 2.For an apparently failed Pan v4 update, force close Wyze, wait 10 minutes, and reopen it to check whether updating finished. If a Cam v4 or Pan v4 update still fails, remove the microSD card before retrying; move Pan v4 closer to the router. Reinstall the card after recovery.
- 3.Before resetting, open Account > Wyze Support > Submit a Log. Select the device and issue, enter Details, leave Send log files checked, and tap Submit. Record the log ID.
- 4.For Cam v3 or Cam v4, remove the microSD card and keep power connected. On v4, pull the base away from the bottom to expose SETUP; hold the bottom SETUP button for 10 seconds on either model. Wait for flashing red, then repeat setup; Cam v3 takes approximately 30 seconds, sometimes up to five minutes.
- 5.For other cameras, follow the exact model’s reset instructions. Pan v4’s procedure uses a 10-to-20-second SETUP hold, while doorbell buttons and timings differ. Wyze Cam Outdoor does not support a factory reset; power cycle it with its rear switch.
- 6.For manual firmware recovery, download the exact model’s firmware from Wyze’s Release Notes & Firmware page and follow its model-specific recovery instructions. Files and installation procedures differ, and some historical releases are paused or removed.
Get help when the camera stays offline
Wyze Support handles connection problems that remain after power, network, setup, and model-specific recovery checks.
Open the Wyze Help Center search bar.
Enter “contact support” to reach email, phone, and chat options.
Give support your recorded log ID so the agent can add it to your ticket. Submitting a log does not create a support ticket, and logs receive no reply; Wyze Support cannot view them.
If you are away from home, ask someone at the camera’s location to power cycle it and troubleshoot the router.
If a previously installed smart plug remains online, use it to power cycle the camera remotely.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a subscription to use Wyze Web View?
No. Wyze offers Web View for one compatible camera without a subscription. Sign into my.wyze.com, open Live View, and select one Camera tile to activate the free allowance.
Why does my camera work in the Wyze app but not in a browser?
Web View has separate model and browser requirements. Outdoor v1/v2 and Video Doorbell Pro support web event viewing only, so use the mobile app for their live streams. Wyze prefers Chrome; Edge and Safari are also supported, while Firefox is unsupported.
What should I do if the setup QR code will not scan?
For Cam v3 Pro QR setup, remove lens film, clean the lens, and display the complete code without glare. Move the phone slowly closer or farther, pausing five seconds at each distance. Generate a fresh code after five minutes. On iPhone or iPad, open Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size and temporarily turn off Smart Invert and Classic Invert before retrying.
How do I clear the Wyze app cache on Android?
On Pixel, open Settings > Apps > See All Apps > Wyze > Storage & cache and tap Clear cache. This is a phone-side app repair step. The separate Clear storage option deletes local app data and requires signing in again; it does not physically reset the camera.
