Roblox feels choppy, and you want to see the frame rate behind it. On Windows and Mac, press Shift+F5 during gameplay to check FPS. For phones and tablets, start with the in-experience settings, then use the device-specific options below if you need another way to measure frame rate.

Press Shift+F5 on Windows or Mac

Start here when playing in the Roblox desktop client on Windows or macOS. Its built-in debug statistics summary requires a keyboard.

Join a Roblox experience. Press Shift+F5 during gameplay to display the summary.

If nothing appears, press Ctrl+Shift+F5 on Windows or Command+Shift+F5 on Mac. Roblox documents both combinations: its client frame-rate instructions say to press Shift+F5 in the client, while its diagnostic tools table lists the Debug Stats overlays under Ctrl+Shift+F5 (Command+Shift+F5 on Mac), the same combination Roblox's Studio walkthrough uses to show the Performance Summary.

Read the FPS value. This is your client’s measured rendering frame rate, which is different from your monitor’s refresh rate or an FPS cap.

Use Performance Stats from the Roblox menu

Clients that include Performance Stats, including supported mobile clients, offer an overlay whose fields vary by client and differ from the Shift+F5 summary. Roblox's hardware-testing guidance describes this overlay as showing FPS, memory, and ping, while its diagnostic tools reference describes the Performance Stats toolbar as memory, CPU, GPU, network data, and ping without listing FPS, so check what your own client displays.

While playing an experience, open the in-experience menu. Select Settings. Enable Performance Stats.

Look for the FPS reading among the displayed metrics. If the overlay shows only timing or networking metrics, use Shift+F5 on desktop or the mobile frame-time method below.

Send the F5 shortcut to Roblox on a Mac

If pressing F5 controls a Mac system feature, hold Fn or Globe while pressing Shift+F5 in Roblox. If the summary still does not appear, try Command+Shift+F5, the Mac shortcut Roblox's diagnostic tools table lists for Debug Stats, holding Fn or Globe as well if your function keys control system features.

On a MacBook Pro with a Touch Bar, hold Fn to reveal F1–F12. Keep Fn held, then hold Shift and tap F5 while Roblox is active.

To use function keys directly on a compatible Apple keyboard with macOS Ventura or later, open Apple menu → System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts → Function Keys. Enable Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys. Press Shift+F5 in Roblox. If the shortcut still fails, try Performance Stats through Roblox’s in-experience Settings.

Keep the FPS widget visible on Windows

Game Bar provides a pinnable FPS display on Windows 10 and Windows 11 when it detects Roblox.

Press Windows+G with Roblox running. Open Widget menu. Select Performance.

Read the FPS metric in the widget. Select the widget’s Pin control to keep it visible during play. If Game Bar does not detect Roblox or show FPS, press Shift+F5 during gameplay to use Roblox’s summary.

Try Game Dashboard on supported Android phones

On an Android device with Google’s Game Dashboard, open Settings → Google → Game Dashboard.

Enable Use Game Dashboard. Launch Roblox. Swipe to reveal the system bars during gameplay.

Tap the Game Dashboard entry icon. Enable the FPS shortcut. Read the FPS value in the floating Shortcut Bar. Game Dashboard must recognize Roblox as a game; on phones without this feature, use Roblox’s in-experience metrics where available.

Measure mobile frame time with a computer

If mobile Performance Stats does not display FPS, use MicroProfiler on supported Android and iOS clients to measure frame timing through a computer on the same network.

  1. 1.In the mobile experience, open Settings.
  2. 2.Set MicroProfiler to On.
  3. 3.On a computer connected to the same network, enter the IP address and port shown by Roblox into a browser.
  4. 4.Read the measured frame duration in milliseconds and calculate FPS as 1000 divided by that duration. This converts frame timing into FPS rather than enabling a simple live FPS counter.
  5. 5.Select Re-capture for another sample.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is FPS the same as ping in Roblox?

No. FPS measures your client’s rendering frame rate. Ping is a networking metric, so a ping reading does not tell you your FPS.

Does Ctrl+Alt+F7 open the same counter as Shift+F5?

No. Ctrl+Alt+F7 on Windows or Command+Option+F7 on Mac opens the Performance Stats toolbar. It is separate from the Shift+F5 debug summary. Roblox’s tool reference lists memory, CPU, GPU, networking, and ping for this toolbar without explicitly listing FPS.

Can I check FPS in Roblox Studio?

Yes. Open an experience in Studio. Select Play to start a playtest. Open Window → Performance → Stats to inspect frame rate. Studio overhead affects measurements, so Roblox recommends the standalone client for representative FPS.
