Getting spam calls or messages on your Tecno Spark 30 Pro can be frustrating, but blocking them is a straightforward process. Whether it's a persistent telemarketer or an unwanted contact, you can silence them in just a few taps. The steps are built right into your phone's dialer and messaging apps.

Block a Number from Your Call Log

Open your Phone app and tap the Recents tab. Find the number you want to block in the list. Tap and hold on that call entry until a menu pops up. From there, select Block number or Block/report spam. Confirm your choice, and that number will no longer be able to ring your phone.

Block Someone from a Text Conversation

If the spam is coming via SMS, open the Messages app. Find and open the conversation with the unwanted number. Tap the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner, then select Details. You should see an option for Block & report spam or simply Block. Tapping this will prevent any future messages from that sender from reaching your inbox.

Block a Contact from Your Address Book

For blocking someone you've saved, open the Contacts app. Find and tap on the contact's name to open their details page. Look for a three-dot menu button, often in the top corner. Tap it and choose Block numbers from the list. This is a good way to block every phone number associated with that contact at once.

Check and Manage Your Blocked List

To see who you've blocked or to unblock someone, go back to your Phone app. Tap the three-dot menu icon and go to Settings. Look for a section called Blocked numbers or something similar. Here, you'll find a complete list. You can tap the X or Unblock button next to any entry to remove the block. This menu is also where you can manually type in a new number to block.

Turn on Spam Protection in Your Dialer

Your Tecno Spark 30 Pro likely uses Google's Phone app by default, which has helpful spam filters. To enable them, open the Phone app, go to Settings, then find Caller ID & spam. Toggle on the options for See caller and spam ID and Filter spam calls. With this on, calls identified as spam may be automatically blocked or will show a clear warning on your screen when they ring.

Block All Hidden or Unknown Numbers

For a more aggressive approach to stop spam, you can block calls from private numbers. Within the Blocked numbers settings menu in your Phone app, look for a toggle that says Block unknown callers or Block private numbers. Turning this on will send any call from a number not in your contacts straight to voicemail. I'd use this cautiously, as it could block legitimate calls from doctors' offices or delivery services.

What Actually Happens When You Block

When you block a number on your Spark 30 Pro, the caller won't get a notification. From their perspective, the call might ring once and then go to voicemail, or they may just hear a busy signal, depending on your carrier. Text messages from a blocked number are completely silenced and deleted. They won't show up in your Messages app at all, so you won't even know they were sent.

Consider a Dedicated Call Blocker App

If you're dealing with a severe spam problem, the built-in tools might not feel like enough. Apps like Truecaller are popular on Android for their massive, community-updated database of spam numbers. After installing one from the Google Play Store, it can integrate deeply to screen and block calls before your phone even rings. Just be aware that some of these apps may show ads, which can be a common experience on phones like the Spark 30 Pro that come with pre-installed software.
