Spam calls and unwanted messages are annoying, but your Galaxy Z Fold 7 makes it easy to shut them down. Once you block a number, they can't call or text you. Here are the quickest ways to stop unwanted contacts from reaching your phone.
Block a Number From Recent Calls
Open the Phone app and tap the Recents tab. Find the number you want to block, tap and hold on it, then select Block number from the pop-up menu. You'll see a confirmation screen where you can also report the number as spam. Tap Block and you're done, calls from that number will be silently rejected going forward.
Block From the Messages App
Open Messages and find the conversation thread with the number you want to block. Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner, then select Block number. You can also tap the contact info banner at the top and choose Block from there. Either way, you won't receive any more texts from that number.
Block a Contact From Your List
Open the Contacts app and find the person you want to block. Tap their name to open the full contact card, then tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner and select Block contact. This blocks calls and messages from every number saved under that contact, handy if someone has multiple lines.
View and Manage Your Blocked List
Go to Phone app > Menu > Settings > Block numbers. You'll see every number you've ever blocked. Tap the minus icon next to any entry to unblock it. You can also add new numbers manually by tapping Add phone number and typing the number in. This is the control center for your blocked list.
Turn on Caller ID and Spam Protection
Navigate to Phone app > Menu > Settings > Caller ID and spam protection and flip the toggle on. The Z Fold 7 uses Samsung's Smart Call system to identify unknown callers and flag suspected spam. You'll see a warning label on incoming spam calls before you pick up. You can also enable Block spam and scam calls right there to automatically reject anything the system flags.
Silence Unknown Callers Automatically
Head to Phone app > Menu > Settings > Block numbers and toggle on Block unknown/private numbers. This sends any call from a number not in your contacts straight to voicemail. Your phone won't even ring, but the caller can still leave a message if they want. It's a great option if you get a lot of robocalls from different numbers every day.
What Happens When You Block Someone
Blocked callers hear a busy tone or get sent directly to voicemail, it depends on your carrier. They won't get any notification that they've been blocked. Text messages from blocked numbers are silently dropped and you won't see them anywhere. On the Z Fold 7, blocked calls also won't show up in your recent call log, so you won't have to look at reminders of who you've blocked.
Report Spam Texts to Your Carrier
You can forward unwanted spam texts to 7726 (which spells "SPAM"). Just open the message, tap the three-dot menu, select Forward, and send it to 7726. Your carrier uses these reports to block spam at the network level. You'll usually get a confirmation message back. This works on AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and most other US carriers.
Try a Third-Party Call Blocker
If spam is still slipping through, apps like Truecaller or Hiya can help. They maintain huge databases of known spam numbers and block them automatically. You can download them from the Play Store or Galaxy Store, then enable call screening during setup. Just keep in mind these apps need access to your call log to work effectively.
Keep the USB-C Port Clean While Troubleshooting
If you're having issues with calls dropping or your phone acting strangely, check the USB-C port on your Z Fold 7 for dust or lint. Gently clean it with compressed air, don't stick anything metal in there. A dirty charging port can sometimes cause system glitches that affect call quality, especially if the phone's struggling with power management. This is a known issue with foldable devices that see a lot of pocket time.
