Getting unwanted calls or messages on your OPPO Find X8 Pro can be a real nuisance, especially when you're trying to enjoy the phone's impressive features. The good news is that ColorOS 15, based on Android 15, gives you several straightforward ways to block any number for good. Once blocked, that contact won't be able to reach you via call or standard SMS.

Block a Number Directly from Your Call Log

This is often the quickest method. Open your Phone app and tap the Recents tab at the bottom. Find the number you want to block in your call history. Tap and hold on that entry until a menu pops up, then select Block. Confirm your choice, and that number will be added to your block list immediately.

Block Someone from Within a Text Conversation

If the harassment is coming via text, open the Messages app. Navigate to the conversation with the unwanted number. Tap the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner and select Details. On the contact details screen, you should see an option like Block & report spam. Tapping this will prevent all future messages and calls from that sender.

Block a Contact from Your Address Book

For people already in your contacts, open the Contacts app. Find and tap on the person's name to open their full contact card. Look for a three-dot menu button, usually in the top corner, and tap it. From the menu that appears, select Block. This action will block every phone number associated with that contact.

Manage Your Entire Block List

To see who you've blocked or to manually add a number, go to your Phone app settings. Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right and go to Settings. Look for a section called Blocked numbers or something similar. Here, you'll find a complete list. You can tap the Add a number field to block someone new, or tap the remove icon next to any entry to unblock them.

Turn on Built-in Spam Protection

Your Find X8 Pro has a native call identification feature that can warn you about suspected spam. To enable it, go to Phone > Settings > Caller ID & spam. Toggle on the options for See caller and spam ID and Filter spam calls. With this on, the phone will automatically flag or silence calls from numbers reported as spam by other users.

Silence Calls from Unknown Numbers

For a more aggressive approach to stop robocalls, you can silence any caller not in your contacts. Within the Blocked numbers settings menu, look for a toggle labeled Block calls from unknown numbers or Block unknown callers. Flip this on. Legitimate callers, like a doctor's office, can still leave a voicemail, which you'll receive a notification for.

What Actually Happens When You Block Someone

When you block a number on your OPPO phone, the caller will typically be sent straight to your voicemail after one ring, or they may hear a message that the line is busy. They won't receive any specific notification that they've been blocked. Any text messages they send will be silently discarded and will never appear in your Messages app.

I've found this system works reliably, though the exact experience can sometimes vary slightly depending on your mobile carrier. The key thing is that you won't be disturbed by their attempts to contact you.

Deal with Spam Emails in Gmail

If spam is coming to your email inbox, you can handle it right from the Gmail app on your Find X8 Pro. Open the offending email, tap the three-dot menu at the top, and select Block [sender's name]. All future emails from that address will go to your Spam folder. For phishing attempts, use the Report spam option instead to help improve Google's filters.

Consider a Third-Party Call Blocker App

For the most comprehensive protection, especially against constantly changing spam numbers, a dedicated app can help. Popular options like Truecaller or Hiya are available on the Google Play Store. These apps use massive, crowdsourced databases to identify and block spam calls before your phone even rings. After installing, you'll grant it permission to manage calls, and it will work seamlessly in the background.
