Spam calls target everyone, but your Pixel 10 Pro XL has tools to fight back that most phones don't. Between Google's on-device AI and Android 16's deep settings, you can silence pretty much any unwanted caller. Here's how to set it all up.
From the Recent Calls List
This is the fastest way to stop a specific number. Open the Phone app and tap the Recents tab. Find the number you want to block, tap it, and then tap Block / report spam. Confirm your choice, and that's it. They won't get through again.
Turn on Call Screen
Call Screen is a Pixel exclusive and it works incredibly well. When a suspected spam call comes in, Google Assistant answers for you. You get a real-time transcript of the conversation and can decide if you want to pick up.
On the Pixel 10 Pro XL, the Tensor G5 chip processes everything on-device, so your call data stays private. Go to Phone > Settings > Call Screen to choose when it activates. You can set it to automatically screen unknown callers, suspected spam, or even private numbers.
Spam Filtering is Automatic Here
Google's Phone app identifies spam calls before they ring through. Make sure this is turned on by going to Phone > Settings > Caller ID & spam. Toggle on See caller and spam ID and Filter spam calls.
With filtering enabled, suspected spam calls are either silently rejected or flagged with a red warning. You won't even hear the phone ring for numbers Google already knows are bad.
The Unknown Callers Toggle
If you are drowning in calls from numbers you don't recognize, there is a single toggle that stops them all. Open Phone > Settings > Blocked numbers and turn on Unknown.
This sends every call from a number not saved in your contacts straight to voicemail. Legitimate callers can still leave a message, so you won't miss anything important.
Block Unwanted Texts
Spam texts are just as annoying as calls. Open the Messages app and find the conversation. Tap the three-dot menu, then Details. Select Block & report spam to stop future texts and help Google improve its filters for everyone.
Block a Saved Contact
Sometimes you need to block someone already saved in your contacts. Open the Contacts app and tap the contact you want to block. Tap the three-dot menu in the top right corner and select Block numbers. This blocks all their saved numbers at once.
Managing Your Blocked List
Need to let someone back through? Open the Phone app and go to Settings > Blocked numbers. You will see your full blocked list here. Tap the X next to any number to unblock it, or use the Add a number option at the bottom to manually add to the list.
Report Spam in Gmail
Spam email finds its way everywhere, but reporting it on your Pixel is simple. Open the Gmail app, open the spam email, and tap the three-dot menu. Select Report spam. The sender is blocked, and similar messages will land in Spam going forward.
Third-Party Call Blockers
If you want even more control, apps like Truecaller and Hiya pull from huge databases of known spam numbers. They can automatically block entire categories of calls before they ever reach your Pixel 10 Pro XL. Just install them from the Play Store and grant the necessary permissions.
