Trying to add a song to your Facebook profile can get confusing fast because the entry point is easy to miss and Facebook lists this feature across computer, mobile browser, Android, iPhone, iPad, and Facebook Lite rather than in one obvious place. Facebook puts added songs in your public Music section, and one song can be pinned below your profile photo and name. Here is the current app flow, plus the fixes to use when Music is missing or broken.

Add a song in the Facebook app

Use the Facebook app on iPhone, iPad, or Android.

  1. 1.Open the Facebook app and go to your Home feed.
  2. 2.Tap your profile photo or profile icon to open your profile.
  3. 3.Scroll to the profile tabs and tap Music.
  4. 4.Tap +, then search or browse for a song.
  5. 5.Tap the song you want to add.
  6. 6.Tap x or close the screen to finish.

Pin a song to your public profile

Open the Facebook app and go to your profile, then tap Music to see the songs you have added. Tap the three-dot menu next to the song you want to feature, then choose Pin to profile.

Only one song can be pinned at a time, and visitors get a preview from your profile.

Install or update Facebook first

Use this when Music does not appear or the profile-song controls are missing. These steps use the official Facebook app on iPhone, iPad, and Android, and Facebook also publishes computer, mobile browser, and Facebook Lite help for this feature.

On iPhone or iPad, open the App Store, search for Facebook by Meta Platforms, Inc., then tap Get or Update. On Android, open Google Play, search for Facebook by Meta Platforms, Inc., then tap Install or Update. You can also open facebook.com/install to reach Facebook's official install page.

When the Music tab is missing

The most common cause is that Facebook has not made the Music feature available for your account, region, or current surface.

Open the official Facebook app instead of the basic mobile browser, which Facebook says does not support this feature. The standard mobile browser is listed as supported, so that is worth a try too.

Update the app, reopen your profile, and check the profile tabs for Music again.

Desktop Manage Sections, the Edit profile then Edit your About info route, and song menus on other people's profiles are account-dependent alternates. They are not Facebook's current app workflow for adding, pinning, or deleting profile songs, so try them only after the app update and profile-tab check still leave Music missing.

Unpin music without deleting it

Open the Facebook app and go to your profile, then tap Music. Tap the three-dot menu next to the pinned song and choose Unpin from profile.

This removes the song from the pinned spot while keeping it in your Music section.

Delete a song from your profile

This removes a song from your profile's Music section.

Open the Facebook app and go to your profile, then tap Music. Tap the three-dot menu next to the song and choose Delete song from profile.

Add music as an About interest instead

Use About interests when you want an artist, band, or music Page on your profile without pinning a playable song below your photo and name.

Search Facebook for the artist, band, or music Page. Open the Page and tap Follow. Facebook can add followed music Pages to the About section of your profile.

This does not create a playable pinned profile song. To remove the interest later, unfollow the Page, which is how Facebook says to remove something you have followed from About. To hide the whole section, tap More below your cover photo and choose Manage sections.

Report a broken Music feature

The most common cause is an account-specific feature issue when Music is absent or the pin and delete controls do not work.

In the Facebook mobile app, go back to the screen where the Music problem appears, then shake your phone. Tap Report problem and choose Include or Don't include. Describe what is wrong with profile Music and submit the report.

You can also tap Menu, scroll to the bottom and tap Help & support, then tap Report problem and Continue to report on iPhone, or Report a problem and Continue to report a problem on Android. Then pick the Facebook feature and describe what happened.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add music to my Facebook profile from a computer?

Facebook lists this feature for computer and mobile browser as well as its Android, iPhone, iPad, and Facebook Lite apps, so check Facebook Help on the surface you use. In the app, open your profile and tap Music.

Is music on my Facebook profile public?

Yes. Added profile songs are public, and a pinned song appears below your profile photo and name.

How many songs can I pin to my Facebook profile?

You can pin one song at a time. Keep other songs in Music and switch the pinned song whenever you want.

Why do I not have Music on my Facebook profile?

Facebook does not provide the Music feature to every account, region, or surface. Use the official mobile app, update it, and report the issue if the tab still does not appear.
