Google has released the new update of the Chrome browser app for iOS. The release update is related to the crash issue of Chrome app for iOS when the user using the third party keyboard. This bug wasn’t associated with the Chrome app itself, but it’s caused by iOS 9. For this time, Google disables the third party keyboard on their Chrome app for iOS. It seems like a temporary solution and it will go back to normal after Apple fixes the bug on iOS 9.

Right now, you can start to update to Chrome 46.0.2490.85 version for iOS. What’s new?

  • Resolved an issue with Omnibox queries failing to display properly

Apple has started to allow third paty keyboards on iOS since iOS 8. Up to now, the Chrome browser app is likely the only application to have this issue. The Chrome browser app and the other browsers for iOS use the same browser engine, called Webkit. But, why this issue only happens on Chrome browser? We cannot find the exact answer yet.
