For just $1999.99, below its 30-day average of $2592.71. The 90-day average sits at $2526.65, so this is a genuine outlier. The 180-day average is $1980.07, meaning this price is within striking distance of the lowest we've seen. If you've been waiting for a serious price cut on the 8TB SN8100. This is it.

What You're Getting

The WD_Black SN8100 is a PCIe 5.0x4 NVMe M.2 2280 drive pushing sequential read speeds up to 14,900MB/s and write speeds up to 14,000MB/s on the 2TB-4TB models. The 8TB version delivers up to 11,000MB/s write speed with 4,800 TBW endurance backed by TLC 3D CBA NAND.

It runs at under 7.5W average operating power, delivering over 100% better power efficiency than PCIe Gen 4 drives. The Sandisk Dashboard (Windows) handles drive monitoring and firmware updates, and Acronis True Image for Sandisk covers data migration.

Who This Is For

Best for: AI workload users, video editors working with 8K RAW footage, and professionals who need to store massive datasets on a single drive. The 8TB capacity eliminates the need for multiple drives in many workstation builds.

Skip it if you don't need PCIe 5.0 speeds or can make do with a 4TB drive at half the price.

The Caveat

Real-world gaming loads won't see a meaningful difference between this and a quality PCIe 4.0 drive. The Sandisk monitoring software is Windows-only, so Mac and Linux users lose the dashboard features. At $1999.99. This is still a premium buy that only makes sense for specific high-bandwidth workflows.

Final Verdict

A $592 drop on an 8TB PCIe 5.0 drive is rare, and the SN8100 delivers the speeds to back it up. Buy now if you need the capacity and bandwidth today.

Wait if a 2TB or 4TB model covers your needs at a fraction of the cost.
