For just $399.99, below its 30-day average of $438.84. The 90-day average sits at $465.44 and the 180-day average at $476.84, so this is a genuine price break relative to recent history.

The WD_Black SN8100 is a PCIe Gen 5.0x4 NVMe M.2 2280 SSD built for high-throughput workloads. Sequential reads hit up to 14,900MB/s and sequential writes reach up to 14,000MB/s on the 2TB model, with random performance exceeding 2,300,000 IOPS.
Power efficiency is a standout, over 100% better than the previous PCIe Gen 4 generation at an average operating power of 7.5W or under. Endurance is rated up to 4,800 TBW on the 8TB variant, using TLC 3D CBA NAND technology. The drive also includes the SANDISK Dashboard for monitoring and Acronis True Image for data migration.
Best for PC builders and content creators who need PCIe 5.0 speeds for AI model storage, 8K video editing, or large game libraries. The 2TB capacity leaves room for OS, applications, and multiple AAA titles.
If you are still on PCIe 4.0 and do not need the extra bandwidth, a Gen 4 drive at a lower price makes more sense.
This is the 2TB model, the 4TB and 8TB variants cost significantly more. If you need maximum capacity, the jump to 4TB or 8TB is steep.
Also, this drive requires a PCIe 5.0 slot to hit its rated speeds; it will work in a Gen 4 slot but will be limited to Gen 4 performance.
At $399.99, the SN8100 undercuts its own recent averages by a meaningful margin. If you are building or upgrading a high-end rig with a Gen 5-capable motherboard. This is a strong price to lock in for a drive that competes with the fastest consumer SSDs on the market.
