What You're Getting

The Rocpro 850 is a 500GB external hard drive spinning at 7200 RPM with a 16MB cache. It offers triple-interface connectivity via eSATA, FireWire 800, and USB, making it compatible with a wide range of older and modern systems. The drive is bus-powered over FireWire and includes a durable enclosure suited for on-the-go use. It ships preformatted for Mac but works with Windows after a quick reformat.

Who This Is For

This drive fits anyone maintaining a workflow built around FireWire 800 or eSATA ports. It is a solid match for creative professionals running older Mac Pro towers, MacBook Pros with FireWire adapters, or PC builds with eSATA headers.

If you need a bootable external or a scratch disk for video projects without tying up USB-C ports. This is a practical option. Skip it if you only use modern USB-C or Thunderbolt connections.

The Caveat

At 500GB, the capacity is modest by current standards. Users with large media libraries or backup needs may outgrow it quickly. The eSATA and FireWire interfaces also require compatible ports or adapters, so verify your setup before ordering.

Final Verdict

Priced at $181.49 with multi-interface support and a 7200 RPM spindle speed. This is a targeted buy for anyone keeping legacy connectivity alive. If you need FireWire or eSATA storage today, this price is hard to beat.
