If you have been watching SSDs and waiting for the right moment to pull the trigger. This is that moment.

What You're Getting

The PNY CS900 is a straightforward SATA III SSD built around 3D NAND flash. It delivers sequential reads up to 535MB/s and writes up to 515MB/s -- enough to make an older laptop or desktop feel like a new machine.

Boot times shrink from minutes to seconds, applications load faster, and the whole system runs quieter and cooler than a mechanical drive. It is backwards compatible with SATA II, so it works in older systems too.

Ultra-low power consumption means less drain on a laptop battery.

Who This Is For

Anyone running a computer on a traditional hard drive should treat this as a mandatory upgrade. The CS900 is also a solid fit for a media server, a console storage expansion, or a secondary scratch drive for creative work.

If you already have a fast NVMe drive as your main boot disk, you can skip this -- you are not the target.

Final Verdict

At $55.58 below its average. This is the price to grab a 1TB SATA SSD for a system that still uses a hard drive. No reason to wait unless your current drive is already an SSD and you have no secondary use for more storage.
