If you have been waiting on a portable SSD with these transfer speeds. This is the moment to pull the trigger.

What You're Getting

The Lexar SL500 delivers USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 performance with read speeds up to 2000MB/s and write speeds up to 1800MB/s. That means moving large video files, photo libraries, or game installs in seconds rather than minutes. The drive supports Apple ProRes recording, so iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max users can shoot 4K 60FPS footage directly to the SSD. It works with USB-C laptops, the iPhone 15 and 16 series, Android smartphones, tablets, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PS4. The metal enclosure is slim enough to slip into a pocket, and the built-in thermal control keeps temperatures in check during sustained transfers. A USB-C cable is included for plug-and-play use.

Who This Is For

Best for: video editors, photographers, and power users who regularly move large files between devices. If you shoot ProRes on an iPhone 15 Pro or 16 Pro, the ability to record directly to this drive eliminates the need to offload footage later.

Console gamers who want faster external storage for PS5 or Xbox Series X|S will see real load-time improvements. Casual users who only back up documents occasionally can save money with a slower drive.

Final Verdict

For $249.99, you get a 2TB portable SSD that matches the speed of many internal drives. The 33% savings puts it well below what most USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 drives cost at this capacity.

If you need fast, pocketable storage right now. This is the price to buy at.
