Apple is planning to release iPhone with 5.8-inch display size with OLED, according to Taiwan-based Apple suppliers which were quoted by DigiTimes. The size is 0.3-inch bigger than iPhone 6/6S Plus. This information complement the previous rumor: “Apple will release a new iPhone series: iPhone Pro“, which is different than the “Plus” series. iPhone Pro series is mentioned to have a dual camera system and will become the first iPhone with OLED display.
The supplier also said that this plan is going to be realized in 2018 or even earlier. This report is in accordance with the previous rumor that said Apple will produce the OLED display in 2017. Their manufacturers partners in producing OLED display are Samsung, LG and JDI. They are all ready to produce the display in 2017 except JDI. Apple is predicted to produce 50 million iPhones with OLED in the first year. It’s a huge number.
Apple is going to use OLED display because of its great quality and they have applied it to Apple Watch for a better visibility in the outside when the user is under the sun.
Apple will release the next iPhone cycle in fall this year. We will keep updating the news.
