Samsung has recently released the May 2023 security update for the Galaxy S21 FE in some Latin American countries. This update was previously rolled out to the Galaxy S22 and S23, but the Galaxy S21 series has yet to receive it.
The firmware version for the Galaxy S21 FE will be updated to G990EXXS5EWD4 with this new security patch. More than 70 security flaws found in Galaxy smartphones have been addressed by this update.
Currently, the May 2023 security update is available in Brazil and could expand to other Latin American markets soon. By the end of this month, it could be released in more regions worldwide.
For Galaxy S21 FE users in Brazil, the new update can be installed by going to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. Alternatively, the firmware file can be downloaded from Samsung's firmware database and flashed manually on a Windows PC.
The Galaxy S21 FE was released last year with Android 12 onboard. It received the Android 13 (One UI 5.0) update at the end of 2023 and the One UI 5.1 update a few months ago. The phone is expected to get three more major Android OS updates - Android 14, Android 15, and Android 16 in the future.
