Samsung Announces Galaxy Unpacked Event in Seoul, Signals Focus on Foldable Devices

Samsung has confirmed that its highly anticipated Galaxy Unpacked event, renowned for unveiling new smartphones and cutting-edge gadgets, is scheduled to take place in late July. Breaking from tradition, this year's event will be held in Seoul, South Korea, marking the first time the company has chosen its home city as the venue. As with recent Unpacked events, the 2023 edition is anticipated to heavily emphasize the realm of foldable devices.

In a statement, TM Roh, President and Head of Samsung's Mobile Experience Business, highlighted the significance of the foldable category in shaping the future of mobile experiences. Roh stated, "The foldable category embodies Samsung's philosophy of delivering innovation that pushes boundaries to reshape the future of mobile experiences. Hosting Unpacked in Seoul holds great significance both as it is a city that has become an emerging epicenter of innovation and culture as well as the foldable category."

A previous rumor from May speculated that this year's Unpacked event would be held on July 26th. Going forward, Samsung plans to organize the Unpacked shows focused on foldables in various cities that closely align with the designated theme of each event. While the exact date remains unknown, the July timeframe suggests that this year's Unpacked event will be earlier than in previous years when it typically took place in August.

Considering the previous Unpacked event, where Samsung introduced the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4, it is expected that both smartphones will receive updates this year. Rumors suggest that the Z Flip 5 will feature a larger outer display, while the Z Fold 5 is said to be considerably thinner when folded. With these advancements, Samsung is set to deliver an exciting lineup of foldable devices, creating a hot foldable summer for tech enthusiasts eagerly anticipating the event.
