When your POCO F6 apps keep closing unexpectedly, it pulls you right out of whatever you were doing. This can happen for a bunch of reasons, from a simple glitch in a single app to something affecting the whole system. The fixes are usually straightforward, and I'd start with a quick restart.

Restart Your POCO F6

This is the universal first step for a reason. A restart clears out temporary system glitches and frees up memory that apps might be fighting over. Just press and hold the power button until the power menu pops up, then tap restart. If the screen is completely frozen, you'll need to force restart it instead.

For a force restart, press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds. Keep holding it even after you feel the vibration, until you see the POCO or HyperOS logo appear on the screen. This is a hard reset that can break a stubborn software hang.

Update the Problem App

App developers are constantly pushing out updates to squash bugs. If one specific app like Instagram or your banking app is crashing, its current version might have a known issue. Open the Google Play Store, tap your profile picture in the top right, and go to Manage apps & device.

Under the "Updates available" section, you can update everything at once or just find the troublesome app. If an update is available, install it and see if the crashing stops. This fixes the problem more often than you'd think.

Force Stop and Relaunch the App

Sometimes an app gets stuck in a bad state. Force stopping it completely shuts it down, allowing it to start fresh. Go to Settings > Apps, then find and tap on the app that's misbehaving.

On the app's info page, tap the Force stop button. A warning will pop up, just confirm it. Then, go back to your home screen and open the app again normally. This is different from just swiping it away in the recent apps menu and often works better.

Clear the App's Cache

Apps store temporary data, called cache, to load faster. Over time, this cache can become corrupted and cause crashes. Clearing it is safe, it won't delete your login info or personal settings within the app.

Head back to Settings > Apps and select the problematic app. Tap on Storage & cache, then hit Clear cache. After doing this, open the app again. If the problem persists, you can try the more nuclear option of Clear storage or Clear data, but know that this will reset the app completely, like you just installed it.

Check for a System Update

It's not just apps that need updates. Xiaomi and POCO release HyperOS updates that include stability patches and bug fixes for the entire system. A system update can resolve conflicts that are causing multiple apps to crash.

Go to Settings > About phone > HyperOS version. Tap the "Check for updates" button. If an update is available, it's a good idea to install it, especially if you're noticing issues across different apps. Make sure your phone is charged above 50% or plugged into its 90W charger first.

Free Up Storage Space on Your Phone

When your phone's storage is nearly full, apps have no room to create temporary files or update themselves, which can lead to crashes. The POCO F6 doesn't have expandable storage, so you need to manage what's on the internal memory.

Check your storage under Settings > Storage. Look for large files you don't need, old downloads, or cached data from apps like Spotify or Chrome. Uninstalling just one or two unused games can free up a massive amount of space. I've seen phones start behaving perfectly after clearing just 2-3 GB of free space.

Check Your Internet Connection

Apps that rely heavily on an online connection, like social media or streaming services, can freeze or crash if your network is unstable. The issue might not be your phone at all. Try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data to test.

If you're on Wi-Fi, try restarting your router. For mobile data, ensure you have a strong signal. You can also try turning Airplane mode on for 10 seconds, then turning it off again to reset your network connections. This often resolves transient connectivity glitches that apps can't handle gracefully.

Reinstall the Problem App

If clearing cache and data didn't help, a full reinstall is the next step. This gives you a completely clean slate by removing any corrupted files associated with the app's installation. Long-press the app's icon on your home screen and tap Uninstall.

Then, head to the Google Play Store and install it again fresh. This process ensures you have the latest version and all its files are intact. It's the most effective fix for an app that's gone rogue while leaving the rest of your system untouched.

Consider the POCO Launcher and Background Apps

The POCO launcher that comes with your phone is known for being feature-rich but also for having ads and occasional bloatware. Some users have reported that these aggressive background processes can interfere with other apps. This is more common if you have many apps running in the background.

You can try switching to a different launcher like Nova or Lawnchair as a test. More directly, you can restrict background activity for non-essential apps. Go to Settings > Apps, select an app, tap Battery, and choose Restricted. Do this for apps you don't need notifications from. Also, during heavy gaming, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip can get warm and throttle performance, which might cause game apps to stutter or crash, so keep an eye on phone temperature.
