If your OPPO Find X8 Pro has gone silent when it should be buzzing, it's a surprisingly common hiccup. The good news is that it's usually a quick software or settings fix, not a sign of a broken vibration motor.
Perform a Quick Restart
Before you dive into settings, just restart your phone. Press and hold the Power button for about 10 seconds until you see the OPPO logo appear and the device reboots. This simple step clears out temporary glitches in ColorOS 15 that can sometimes cause the haptic feedback to stop responding.
Check Your Sound and Vibration Profile
On the OPPO Find X8 Pro, your current sound profile is key. Swipe down from the top of your screen to open the Quick Settings panel and look for the sound icon. Make sure it's not set to Silent or Do Not Disturb mode, as these will disable vibration for most alerts. Tap it to cycle through to Sound mode, which allows vibrations.
You can also check this in Settings > Sound & vibration > Sound mode. Ensure "Sound" is selected here. I've seen this trip up a lot of users after an update.
Verify the Main Vibration Switch
There's a master toggle for vibration that might have gotten switched off. Head to Settings > Sound & vibration. Scroll down and look for "Vibrate on ring" and "Vibrate on silent". Make sure both of these are toggled on. If they're already on, try turning them off and back on again to refresh the setting.
Adjust Vibration Strength
The Find X8 Pro lets you control how strong the vibrations feel. If it's set too low, you might not notice it. Go to Settings > Sound & vibration > Vibration intensity. You'll find separate sliders for incoming calls, notifications, and touch feedback. Slide them all to the right to increase the intensity and test if the vibration becomes noticeable.
Inspect App-Specific Notification Settings
Sometimes the problem isn't with the system, but with a specific app like your messaging or email client. Open Settings > Notifications & status bar > App notifications. Find the app that's not vibrating, tap on it, and make sure "Allow notifications" is enabled. Then, tap on each notification category (like "Messages" or "General") and ensure the "Vibrate" option is checked within those categories.
Test in Safe Mode
If vibration works in Safe Mode, you know a third-party app you installed is causing a conflict. To boot into Safe Mode, press and hold the Power button until the power menu appears. Then, long-press the "Power off" option on your screen. A prompt will appear asking if you want to reboot to Safe Mode; tap "OK".
Once in Safe Mode (you'll see "Safe mode" in the bottom corner), test your vibration. To exit, just restart your phone normally. If the vibration works here, you'll need to uninstall recently downloaded apps one by one to find the culprit.
Update Your Software
Outdated software can have bugs that affect hardware functions like the vibration motor. OPPO is pretty good with updates for their flagship models. Go to Settings > About phone > Software update and tap "Check for updates". If an update is available, install it. The Dimensity 9400 chipset is powerful, but it needs the latest software to run smoothly.
Check for Interference from Themes or Always-On Display
Custom themes from the OPPO store or a very aggressive Always-On Display schedule can sometimes interfere with system processes. Try reverting to the default theme temporarily by going to the Themes app and applying the "Official" or "Default" theme. Also, check Settings > Home screen & lock screen > Always-On Display and see if turning it off for a test makes a difference.
Run a Hardware Test
OPPO has a built-in diagnostic tool to test components. Open your Phone dialer and enter *#899#. This will launch the engineering mode menu. Look for an option like "Manual Test" or "Device Test", then navigate to find the vibration motor test. If the phone vibrates during this test, the hardware is functioning correctly and your issue is definitely software-based.
Reset All Settings
This is a more thorough step that won't delete your personal data like photos or messages, but it will reset all your system settings to default. Go to Settings > Additional settings > Backup & reset > Reset phone. Here, choose "Reset all settings" and confirm. You'll have to reconfigure things like Wi-Fi passwords and display settings, but it can clear out any deep configuration error causing the vibration to fail.
