Seeing the Nothing Phone (3) logo stuck on your screen during startup is a stressful experience. The phone seems to be trying to boot but can't get past that initial animation, often due to a software update that was interrupted, a corrupted system file, or a failed modification. The good news is you can usually get it working again without losing your data.
Give It Time to Finish
Before you take any action, just wait. After a major Nothing OS update, the phone can sit on the logo screen for a surprisingly long time while it finalizes the installation and optimizes apps in the background. If you see any kind of loading indicator, it's still working. Plug the phone into its official 65W charger and leave it alone for at least 20 to 30 minutes.
Perform a Force Restart
If the logo is completely static for over half an hour, a force restart is your first real fix. Press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power button simultaneously for about 10 to 15 seconds. You'll feel a vibration and see the screen go black before the Nothing logo appears again. This simple reboot can clear a temporary software glitch and break the boot loop.
Enter Recovery Mode
When a force restart just brings you back to the same stuck logo, you need to boot into Recovery Mode. First, connect your Nothing Phone (3) to a computer using a good-quality USB-C cable. Make sure you have the proper ADB drivers installed if you're on Windows.
With the phone off, press and hold the Volume Up button, then press and hold the Power button. Keep holding both until you see the Recovery Mode menu appear on your phone's screen. You'll navigate this menu using the volume keys and select options with the power button.
Try the "Apply Update from ADB" Option
From the Recovery Mode menu, use the volume buttons to highlight Apply Update from ADB and select it with the power button. On your connected computer, open a command prompt or terminal in the folder where you have ADB tools. Type the command adb sideload [update-file.zip], dragging the official Nothing OS update file for your Phone (3) into the command. This reinstalls the system software without erasing your personal data, which is always the best first attempt.
Use the Wipe Cache Partition Option
Corrupted temporary system files can cause boot issues. From the main Recovery Mode screen, select Wipe cache partition. Confirm the action. This only deletes temporary system cache and will not touch your photos, messages, or apps. After it completes, select Reboot system now. I've seen this resolve logo hangs that occurred after a minor app update or system glitch.
Factory Reset as a Last Resort
Warning: This will erase all data on your phone. If applying an update or wiping the cache fails, you may need to factory reset. In Recovery Mode, select Wipe data/factory reset and confirm. After the reset is complete, choose Reboot system now. You will then set up the phone as new. This is a guaranteed fix for any software-related boot loop, but it comes at the cost of your local data.
Check Your Charger and Cable
A weak or faulty power source can sometimes prevent a phone from booting properly, especially if the battery is critically low. For the Nothing Phone (3), always use the official 65W charger and a high-quality USB-C cable that supports fast charging. Avoid using worn-out cables or low-power chargers, like those from older devices, when trying to revive a stuck phone.
Restore Your Data from a Backup
If you had to perform a factory reset, you can restore your information if you had backups enabled. During the initial setup process after the reset, you'll be prompted to restore from a Google One backup or to copy data from another device. Regularly backing up your Nothing Phone (3) to Google's servers is the best defense against permanent data loss from these kinds of issues.
