Seeing "Network Not Available" on your Nothing Phone (3) means it can't find a cellular signal for calls, texts, or mobile data. It's a common but fixable hiccup, often tied to your location, a software quirk, or a simple setting that's gotten out of sync.
I'd start with the simplest fix first. Just restart your phone. A quick reboot clears out temporary glitches in Nothing OS and can often re-establish the connection immediately.
Check Your Basic Connection Settings
First, swipe down from the top of your screen to open the Quick Settings panel. Make sure the airplane icon for Airplane Mode isn't highlighted. If it is, tap it to turn it off.
While you're there, also check that mobile data is enabled. Look for the cellular signal icon or a "Mobile Data" toggle and ensure it's on. Sometimes toggling it off and back on can kickstart the connection.
Reinsert Your SIM Card
A loose or dirty SIM card is a frequent culprit. Grab the SIM ejector tool that came with your Phone (3) and pop out the tray. Carefully remove the SIM card, give the gold contacts a gentle wipe with a soft, dry cloth, and then reseat it firmly in the tray.
Push the tray back in until it clicks. After your phone boots back up, give it a minute to search for the network. This physical reset solves more issues than you might think.
Reset Your Network Settings
If the quick fixes don't work, the next step is to reset your network settings. This clears all your saved Wi-Fi passwords, Bluetooth pairings, and cellular configurations back to default, which can resolve deeper software conflicts.
Go to Settings > System > Reset options. Tap on Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth. Confirm the reset and let your phone restart. You'll need to reconnect to Wi-Fi networks and re-pair Bluetooth devices afterward, but your personal data stays safe.
Manually Select Your Network Operator
Your phone usually picks the best network automatically, but sometimes it gets stuck. You can force it to search again and lock onto your carrier. Head to Settings > Network & internet > SIMs.
Tap on your active SIM and then select Network operators. Turn off the "Choose automatically" toggle. Your phone will scan for all available networks. When the list appears, simply select your carrier's name from the list.
Verify Your APN Configuration
The Access Point Name (APN) is like the address your phone uses to connect to your carrier's internet. If these settings are wrong, mobile data won't work. In Settings > Network & internet > SIMs, tap on your SIM and then select Access Point Names.
If the settings look empty or incorrect, you'll need to input them manually. Your mobile carrier can provide the exact APN details you need. You can usually find them on their official support website or by contacting customer service.
Check for a Software Update
Nothing regularly releases updates for Nothing OS that include bug fixes and connectivity improvements. An outdated system could be the root of your network problems. Open Settings > System > System update.
Tap "Check for update." If an update is available, download and install it. Make sure your phone is connected to Wi-Fi and has a good charge before starting. After the update completes, check if your mobile network has returned.
Use the Phone Information Menu
Android has a hidden diagnostic menu that lets you check the radio status. Open your Phone app and dial *#*#4636#*#*. This will open the Testing menu. Select Phone information.
Here, you can see the status of your mobile radio. Ensure "Mobile radio power" is on. You can also try tapping the three-dot menu and selecting "Run ping test" or using the dropdown menu to select a different network type, like "LTE only," to see if it forces a connection.
Review Your VPN and Security Apps
Third-party apps, especially VPNs or aggressive security tools, can sometimes block or interfere with your cellular connection. Try temporarily disabling any VPN apps you have running.
If you suspect another app might be causing issues, try booting your Phone (3) into Safe Mode. This disables all third-party apps. Press and hold the power and volume up buttons, then tap and hold the "Power off" option on your screen until you see the Safe Mode prompt.
If your network works perfectly in Safe Mode, a recently installed app is likely the problem. You'll need to uninstall apps one by one to find the culprit.
Perform a Force Restart
When a standard restart doesn't cut it, a force restart can clear more stubborn system processes. On the Nothing Phone (3), press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power button together for about 10 to 15 seconds.
Keep holding them until you see the Nothing logo appear on the screen, then release. This is different from a regular reboot and can resolve deeper system freezes that might be affecting the modem.
Contact Your Mobile Carrier
If you've tried everything on the phone itself, the issue might be on your carrier's end. There could be a local network outage, maintenance work, or a problem with your account. Give them a call or check their service status page online.
It's also worth asking if your SIM card needs to be replaced. SIM cards can wear out or fail over time. They can usually send you a new one or you can pick one up at a store, which often fixes persistent "Network Not Available" errors.
