Uber announced Monday it will acquire Getir's food delivery business in Turkey for $335 million in cash, expanding its Middle East presence through a deal that could total $1 billion. Getir's unit generated over $1 billion in gross bookings in 2025.

The agreement with Mubadala Investment Company, Getir's controlling shareholder, covers food, grocery, retail and water delivery.

Uber will also take a 15% stake in Getir's remaining portfolio for $100 million, with plans to acquire the rest over several years if performance targets are met.

This marks Uber's second major Turkish acquisition in nine months, following its $700 million purchase of an 85% stake in Trendyol Go in May 2025, positioning Uber as a dominant player in Turkey's delivery market.

Following regulatory approval, Uber plans to combine Getir with Trendyol Go. Getir users will maintain access through the Getir Super App while gaining restaurant options from Trendyol Go, whose customers will access Getir's grocery offerings.

"Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi stated the company is committed to investing in Türkiye for the long term,"

This follows Uber's October 2025 announcement of a $200 million, five-year investment plan for Turkey including a new technology development center.

Getir, founded in Istanbul in 2015, pioneered rapid grocery delivery with minutes-long service. The company reached an $11.8 billion valuation in 2022 after raising $768 million in a Series E round led by Mubadala, but withdrew from international markets including the UK, Germany, Netherlands and US in April 2024 amid investor pressure to cut costs.

"Mubadala deputy group CEO Waleed Al Mokarrab Al Muhairi called Turkey a highly attractive market for Mubadala."

The Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund took control of Getir's business after relations deteriorated with founders.

The acquisition requires regulatory approval and is expected to increase selection for consumers, create more delivery opportunities, and drive demand to Turkish restaurants and retailers.
