Samsung has taken another step toward releasing its next-generation flagship tablets, getting the Galaxy Tab S12 series certified by the Bluetooth SIG. The certification points to an upcoming release and reveals model numbers that shed light on the lineup's variants and connectivity options.
The certification, carried out by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, suggests Samsung is preparing to launch the lineup soon. The Galaxy Tab S12 series is expected to include two models, the Galaxy Tab S12+ and Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra.
Based on the model numbers, the Galaxy Tab S12+ will be offered in both cellular and non-cellular variants. The cellular version is headed to carrier-locked US models, with separate versions for South Korea and Europe alongside an international model.
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is also expected in cellular and non-cellular configurations, though its cellular model appears limited to international and South Korean variants. The Bluetooth SIG listing doesn't reveal other details, including the tablets' Bluetooth version.
The certification offers insight into the launch window, with the Galaxy Tab S12 series slated for release between August and October. Samsung previously said it would launch the tablets in the second half of this year, with the company's Daniel Araujo, head of the Strategic Planning Group for Mobile Experience, flagging the Tab S12 among new premium products coming in that period.
