Oppo is building a mid-range phone with 10,000mAh battery capacity and an 8.47mm thin chassis, a combination that until now has been technically impossible in the non-rugged smartphone segment.
Tipster Digital Chat Station posted the full specifications on Weibo, with GizmoChina and GSMArena corroborating the details. The Oppo A7 Pro Max packs a single-cell battery rated at 9,700mAh minimum, with typical capacity hitting the full 10,000mAh mark.
The engineering trick is silicon-carbon electrode material, which boosts energy density without expanding the phone's footprint. Traditional dual-cell battery designs require extra wiring and voltage conversion circuitry that eats up internal volume.
Oppo's single-cell approach reportedly recovers five to eight percent more capacity within the same physical space. At 226 grams and 8.47mm thick, the A7 Pro Max is thinner and lighter than many flagships carrying batteries half its size. The phone supports 80W wired charging to offset the massive capacity.
The rest of the spec sheet reads like a well-equipped mid-ranger. A 6.78-inch flat OLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate sits on the front, with an optical in-display fingerprint sensor underneath.
Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset, a 4nm platform announced in May, powers the device. Camera hardware is modest: a 50-megapixel main sensor paired with a 2-megapixel secondary lens on the back, and a 50-megapixel selfie shooter up front.
Oppo is reportedly using a high-polymer drop-resistant material for the chassis, a cost-saving choice that helps keep the device affordable. The phone is expected to launch at roughly 2,000 Chinese Yuan (about $295), initially in China. The A7 Pro Max would be Oppo's first phone to cross the 10,000mAh threshold, and it shows a shift in how manufacturers are thinking about battery capacity.
As memory prices continue rising, brands are competing on endurance rather than spec sheets. A phone that lasts two days on a charge is becoming a stronger selling point than another 200-megapixel camera sensor.
