Ember Lab's acclaimed action-adventure Kena: Bridge of Spirits arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 this spring, bringing the complete package to Nintendo players for the first time. The port includes all post-launch content and arrives just as the studio announces a sequel for other platforms.

Originally released in 2021 as a PlayStation console exclusive, Kena: Bridge of Spirits expanded to Xbox systems in 2024 before securing its Nintendo debut. The Switch 2 version bundles the Anniversary DLC featuring Charmstones, Spirit Guide Trials, additional outfits, and accessibility options alongside New Game+ mode with redesigned combat encounters.

Players control Kena, a young spirit guide helping trapped souls in a forgotten village while befriending Rot companions who assist in puzzle-solving and combat. The game combines exploration with fast-paced battles across environments filled with hidden secrets and rewards.

Ember Lab co-founder Josh Grier expressed excitement about reaching new audiences through the portable platform.

"We're beyond thrilled that even more players will now be able to fully immerse themselves in Kena's world,"

Grier stated following the announcement.

Critical reception remains strong years after launch, with the title maintaining an 81 Metascore from 82 reviews and winning Best Independent Game at The Game Awards 2021. Reviewers praised its Pixar-inspired visuals and deceptively deep combat system that demands attention to enemy patterns.

The Switch 2 release coincides with news of sequel Kena: Scars of Kosmora launching later this year on PS5 and PC through another PlayStation partnership. While no Switch 2 version has been confirmed for the follow-up, strong sales of this port could influence future platform decisions.

Ember Lab previously gained attention for their Majora's Mask-inspired animated short Terrible Fate in 2016 before developing their debut game. The studio's animation background contributes to Kena's distinctive visual style that should translate well to Nintendo's handheld display.
