HP is selling a 16-inch workstation built around Intel's next-generation Panther Lake processors and Nvidia's RTX Pro Blackwell graphics, with pricing that starts at $3,609 and stretches past $10,000 for fully loaded configurations. The ZBook X G2i launched quietly at the end of March, but HP only recently confirmed pricing. Seven SKUs are now listed in the US, topping out at $10,431. The laptop has not yet reached the Eurozone or UK markets.
HP positions the ZBook X G2i below its ZBook Ultra and Fury lines, but the specs tell a different story. Processor options range from Intel Core Ultra 5 through the Core Ultra 9 386H Panther Lake chip.
Nvidia GPU choices include the RTX Pro 500, 1000, and 2000 Blackwell variants, with higher-end configurations reportedly supporting the RTX Pro 3000 Blackwell.
Memory and storage scale up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM and a 2TB PCIe Gen 5 SSD, though earlier announcements suggested 128GB support may be available on select configurations. All models pack a 96Wh battery.
Some SKUs include a 1600p display with a 120Hz variable refresh rate. The pricing puts the ZBook X G2i in direct competition with premium mobile workstations from Dell's Precision line and Lenovo's ThinkPad P-series. The previous-generation ZBook X G1i currently sells for around $2,659 on Amazon.
HP expects shipments for the ZBook X G2i to begin in early July, according to Digital Trends. The broader rollout signals HP's push into AI-focused professional laptops, where acceleration from both Intel's NPU and Nvidia's Blackwell architecture is becoming a standard expectation rather than a differentiator. The ZBook X G2i is a mobile workstation, not a gaming laptop. But with Panther Lake CPUs, RTX Pro Blackwell graphics, and a 120Hz display option, it will handle demanding games without breaking a sweat.
HP is just charging workstation premiums for the privilege.
