Six months after launching as a Nintendo Switch console exclusive, Supergiant Games' critically acclaimed roguelike sequel Hades 2 arrives on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 this month with day-one availability on Microsoft's subscription service. The game joins Xbox Game Pass starting April 14, giving subscribers immediate access to what CNET named one of its best games of 2025.
Hades 2 previously captured Best Action Game at the 2025 Game of the Year awards and earned Best Game on Steam Deck honors at the Steam Awards following its initial release.
Microsoft confirmed the addition through its official Xbox Wire channel as part of a broader April lineup that includes several high-profile titles. The service will also welcome Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019), Final Fantasy IV, and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered this month according to multiple sources tracking Game Pass updates.
For Xbox subscribers who haven't purchased the sequel separately, the Game Pass inclusion provides access without the expected $29.99 retail price. The subscription tiers offering Hades 2 start at $10 monthly for Essential members, while Ultimate subscribers paying $30 monthly gain access to hundreds of titles including all day-one releases.
The sequel continues the story set years after the original game's conclusion, shifting focus to protagonist Melinoë's quest against Chronos with new weapons like Umbral Flames and expanded combat mechanics. Unlike its predecessor which reached PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms, Hades 2 targets current-generation consoles exclusively.
April's broader Game Pass additions span multiple genres from indie management sim Tiny Bookshop to blockbuster first-person shooters from the Call of Duty franchise. Microsoft reportedly plans to confirm additional titles throughout the coming weeks as part of what some industry observers describe as one of the service's strongest monthly lineups.
Subscribers can access Hades 2 through cloud streaming on supported devices or download it directly to Xbox Series X/S consoles beginning April 14.
