Epson announced Google TV with Gemini integration for select Lifestudio projectors at CES 2026, marking one of the first projector implementations of Google's AI assistant. The update replaces Google Assistant with Gemini across compatible models, delivering contextual conversation capabilities and personalized content discovery.
The Lifestudio Grand projector will receive Gemini support first via firmware update in the coming months, according to Epson's CES announcement. Additional Lifestudio models will follow throughout 2026, with the company planning staggered availability announcements. All integration runs on MediaTek's system-on-chip smart projector platform, eliminating the need for external streaming devices.
Gemini enables unified content discovery across 700,000 movies, episodes, and live TV sources in one interface. Users can build and manage watchlists from mobile devices, then access them on the big screen. The AI assistant provides personalized recommendations based on viewing history across streaming services.
Smart home control expands through the Gemini integration, allowing users to manage compatible lights, thermostats, and doorbells directly from projector interfaces. Melvin Diaz, senior product manager, home entertainment, Epson America, Inc., stated: "As one of the first companies to integrate Google TV with Gemini on projectors, our collaboration with Google TV underscores Epson's commitment to advancing home projection, giving users a truly cinematic AI experience that makes big-screen entertainment more responsive and personal than ever before."
Hardware specifications remain unchanged, maintaining 3LCD projection technology and Bose-tuned audio systems across portable and ultra-short-throw designs. The Gemini experience requires a Google Account and internet connection of 5 Mbps for HD or 25 Mbps for 4K streaming. Firmware updates will enable the feature automatically on compatible models.
Epson positions the integration as addressing consumer demand for seamless connected home entertainment. MediaTek general manager CK Wang noted the platform delivers "the magic of a home theater in a portable, all-in-one form factor." The company aims to make projectors feel like full-fledged entertainment devices rather than supplementary hardware.
Availability begins with select newer Lifestudio models, expanding gradually throughout 2026. Epson will announce specific timing for additional projector compatibility as the year progresses. The integration represents Google's continued expansion of Gemini across surfaces following its recent Google TV updates.
