Anthropic updated Claude's homepage this week to emphasize ad-free conversations, positioning the chatbot as a tool for "working, imagining, and deep thinking." The move follows the company's Super Bowl advertising debut that directly criticized OpenAI's plan to introduce ads to ChatGPT.

The homepage revision adds "ad-free chats" as a core feature alongside unlimited questions and built-in safety measures. Visitors now encounter a friendly introduction describing Claude as an assistant focused on productivity rather than commercial interruptions.

Anthropic spent millions on Super Bowl commercials that mocked OpenAI's advertising strategy. One 30-second spot featured a scrawny man asking a muscular bystander for fitness advice, only to receive a chatbot-style response that included a promotion for shoe inserts. The commercial concluded with the tagline: "Ads are coming to AI. But not to Claude."

"We respect our users," Altman stated in a podcast interview. "We understand that if we did something like what those ads depict, people will rightfully stop using our product."

The public dispute represents one of the largest confrontations between major AI companies. Both firms are reportedly preparing for potential public listings later this year, intensifying competition for market share and investor attention.

Anthropic's homepage messaging highlights three essential features: users can ask unlimited questions, conversations include built-in safety features, and Claude will never display advertisements.
