Instagram has unveiled a range of new features for its Reels platform in an attempt to compete more effectively with TikTok.
In a blog post, the company revealed that it is now simpler for creators to discover trending content, with a new section displaying the top trending songs and hashtags. Instagram also launched a revamped editor that allows for greater visual alignment and timing of elements.
The metrics for Reels have been updated too, providing more detailed information about total watch time and average watch time, and can now be accessed directly from Reels. In addition, creators will now receive notifications when new followers are gained through their Reels, and Instagram is expanding its Gifts feature, which enables fans to support their favorite creators with monetary donations to more countries.
All the new features will be introduced to Instagram users over the coming weeks.
