Xumo Wi-Fi failures come from a dropped saved network, the wrong password, weak signal, router trouble, or an incompatible network. Start with the status screen, then reconnect the saved network before moving to router fixes, Ethernet, or a factory reset. The menus differ by device, so use the Stream Box, Spectrum Stream Box, or Xumo TV path that matches your setup.
Check the Wi-Fi status first
Confirm whether Xumo is offline or running on a weak connection before changing anything.
- 1.On a Xumo Stream Box, go to Settings > Network > Network connection.
- 2.On a Spectrum Xumo Stream Box, press Quick Access (...), choose Settings, then open Network.
- 3.On a Xumo TV, go to Settings > Network and check whether the TV says it is online or offline.
- 4.On a Stream Box using Wi-Fi, read the status label: Excellent, Good, Fair, Bad, or Disconnected. If the box is connected by Ethernet, the status instead reads Connected or Disconnected.
Reconnect from the Network menu
When a Xumo Stream Box shows Disconnected, go to Settings > Network > Network Connection > WiFi using password. Select your network, then enter the Wi-Fi password.
On a Spectrum Xumo Stream Box, press Quick Access (...), open Settings > Network > Network connection, then choose WiFi using password. If this method fails, reset the saved Wi-Fi network so Xumo stops using the old connection details.
Fix the network name or password
The most common cause is choosing the wrong network name or typing the Wi-Fi password with the wrong capitalization.
Open Network Connection, choose the correct network name, also called the SSID, and enter the Wi-Fi password exactly. Xumo treats Wi-Fi passwords as case sensitive, so one uppercase or lowercase mismatch blocks the connection.
If the network name is missing, restart the router and check another device on the same Wi-Fi network before retrying Xumo.
Reset the saved Wi-Fi network
Use this when Xumo keeps joining the old network, your router name changed, or the Wi-Fi password was updated.
- 1.Go to Settings > Network > Network Connection.
- 2.Select Reset.
- 3.Select Confirm.
- 4.Select WiFi using password.
- 5.Choose the new network and enter the password.
Restart Xumo when setup stalls
A first-time software update can take up to 15 minutes, so give it that long before stepping in. If a Xumo Stream Box stalls during setup or the update runs past 15 minutes, unplug the power cable from the back of the Stream Box. Wait 15 seconds, plug the power cable back in, and allow the box to restart so it resumes and completes the update.
On a Berry Xumo TV, restart from Settings > Device settings > Power preferences > Restart. On a Teal Xumo TV, restart from Settings > System management > Resets and updates > Restart device.
If restarting does not restore the connection, open Settings > Network > Network connection > Help, then use Ethernet if setup or updates still will not finish over Wi-Fi.
Use the right Xumo TV Wi-Fi menu
Xumo TVs use different menus depending on the interface. Press the Settings button or open the Settings tile; if the first item is Closed captions, use Berry, and if the first item is Picture and sound, use Teal.
On a Berry Xumo TV, go to Settings > Network > Connect to a WiFi network, choose your network, and enter the password. For a hidden network, select Back, choose Connect to a private network, and enter the network name.
On a Teal Xumo TV, go to Settings > Network > Network Connections, move to Status, and choose Reset. Then reconnect from the network screen.
If the TV was off for more than 20 seconds, press the Home icon to wake it before trying again.
Switch to Ethernet or WPS
Ethernet is not available on all Xumo TVs, so check your manufacturer's documentation to confirm your TV has a LAN port. Then connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the TV's LAN port.
Connect the other end to the modem or router's LAN port.
On a Berry Xumo TV, open Settings > Network > Connect using Ethernet.
On a Teal Xumo TV, open Settings > Network > Connect via Ethernet cable.
For WPS on a Berry Xumo TV, open Settings > Network > Connect using WPS.
Press the router's WPS button.
For WPS on a Teal Xumo TV, open Settings > Network.
Move to Status.
Choose Reset.
Select Connect using WPS.
Press the router's WPS button.
During Stream Box activation, connect Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi.
Make sure the Ethernet cable is firmly connected.
Use Ethernet first when speed, signal, or password entry keeps stopping setup.
Avoid hotspots and captive Wi-Fi
The most common cause with hotspots and public Wi-Fi is compatibility, especially when the network needs a separate browser login page.
Xumo TV should not use Wi-Fi networks that require a browser sign-in, including hotel and library networks. Use home Wi-Fi, WPS, Ethernet, or another compatible network instead.
For a mobile hotspot, test the hotspot with another device first. If the hotspot is slow, restart it. If Xumo still cannot connect, switch to another Wi-Fi network or use Ethernet.
Factory reset after easier fixes fail
A factory reset is for a persistent technical issue, or for preparing to give the Stream Box to someone else, so save it until you have checked the password, reset the saved network, restarted the router, and tried Ethernet or WPS. It wipes your personal preferences, removes the Stream Box from your Xumo account, signs you out of all apps, and requires setup again.
On a Xumo Stream Box, go to Settings > System management > Resets & updates, enter your parental control PIN if asked, and follow the onscreen prompts. Keep the box connected to power until the screen goes black, then set it up again.
On a Berry Xumo TV, go to Settings > Device Settings > Factory reset, then choose Yes, restore.
On a Teal Xumo TV, go to Settings > System management > Reset & updates > Factory reset, then choose Continue. After the reset, reset and pair the remote again.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does Xumo say Disconnected when Wi-Fi works on my phone?
Xumo has a bad saved password, an old saved network, or a weaker signal at the TV or Stream Box. Reset Network Connection, then reconnect with WiFi using password.
Can the Xumo remote app fix Wi-Fi when the device is offline?
No. Xumo remote apps require the phone or tablet and the Xumo device to be on the same Wi-Fi network, so they cannot reconnect an offline device.
Does Xumo work on hotel or library Wi-Fi?
Xumo TV should not use networks that require a separate browser login page. Use home Wi-Fi, WPS, Ethernet, or another compatible network.
Should I turn Wi-Fi off in Advanced settings before resetting the network?
Use Xumo's current reset path: Reset, Confirm, then WiFi using password. The WiFi on/off control exists in Advanced settings, but it is not required for the documented reconnect flow.
