Changing your AT&T Wi-Fi password is a straightforward process that helps keep your network secure. Whether you're concerned about unwanted users or just want to update your credentials, you can easily change your password using either the gateway settings or the Smart Home Manager app.

Creating a Strong Wi-Fi Password

When changing your Wi-Fi password, it's important to choose one that's both secure and memorable. Here are some tips for creating a strong password:

  • Use at least 8 characters with a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special symbols
  • Avoid personal information like names, addresses, or birthdates
  • Don't use common words or phrases that are easy to guess
  • Make sure it's something your household can remember without writing it down

Method 1: Change Password Through Gateway Settings

This method works directly through your AT&T gateway's web interface:

  1. 1.Open a web browser and go to http://192.168.1.254
  2. 2.Enter your Device Access Code when prompted (found on the side of your gateway)
  3. 3.Click "Submit" to access the gateway settings
  4. 4.Scroll to "Top Networking Features" and select "Wireless"
  5. 5.In the Network section, you can optionally change your Wi-Fi name (SSID)
  6. 6.In the Security section, set WPA to "custom" and enter your new password
  7. 7.Click "Save" to apply the changes

Method 2: Change Password Using Smart Home Manager

The Smart Home Manager app provides a more user-friendly way to manage your network:

  1. 1.Open the Smart Home Manager app or website
  2. 2.Navigate to the main menu and select "More"
  3. 3.Choose "Network" from the options
  4. 4.Select your Wi-Fi network from the list
  5. 5.Enter your new password in the password field
  6. 6.Optionally change your network name for additional security
  7. 7.Save your changes to update the network settings

After changing your Wi-Fi password, remember to reconnect all your devices using the new credentials. This includes smartphones, computers, smart home devices, and any other equipment that connects to your network.
