Google Wallet has once again expanded its reach by adding five new regions across the globe, primarily in the Balkans. The announcement was made through a brief community post, highlighting the availability of Google Wallet in these countries. The list of newly supported countries includes Albania, Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, and Montenegro.
With this expansion, users in these regions can now download the Google Wallet app on their Android devices and utilize the tap-to-pay feature in stores that support it, provided their devices have NFC capabilities. Additionally, these countries also support Google Wallet on Wear OS devices.
However, it's important to note that the availability of Google Wallet features may vary depending on the user's bank or credit card provider, even within the supported countries. For instance, in North Macedonia, the functionality is currently limited to NLB Bank, according to a report from a 9to5Google reader. Similarly, in Albania, only ProCredit Bank Albania is supported at present.
To assist users in determining which banks and providers are supported in each country, Google has provided a helpful support page that outlines the details, including the newly added five countries.
