For just $159.99, below its 30-day average of $259.99, the enclosure also undercuts its recorded historical low of $169.99. Its 90-day average is $249.16, and its 180-day average is $244.64, putting the current offer below all three supplied averages.

What You're Getting

• 80Gbps connectivity with a JHL9480 chip. UGREEN quotes theoretical test speeds up to 7000MB/s with Thunderbolt 5; reaching the full interface speed requires compatible cables and ports.
• An aluminum body and built-in cooling fan. The fan starts when the internal temperature reaches 40 degrees Celsius.
• Support for NVMe storage up to 8TB, including 2280-size PCIe 5.0 M.2 drives with M-Key or M&B-Key connections.
• Compatibility with Windows, Linux and macOS, plus backward compatibility with Thunderbolt 4 and earlier USB connections. Thunderbolt 3 use requires a computer running macOS 15 or higher.
• A compact aluminum design with an extra silicone case for carrying the enclosure between desks or on trips.

Who This Is For

This fits buyers building external NVMe storage around a Thunderbolt 5 computer, including Mac mini users who want capacity expansion. The combination of an 8TB capacity ceiling and active cooling is useful for a desk setup that also needs to travel. Buyers using older connections can use the backward compatibility, but the full 80Gbps capability requires Thunderbolt 5 hardware.

The Caveat

This enclosure does not support M.2 B-Key or M&B-Key SATA NGFF SSDs. Match it with a supported NVMe drive, and treat the quoted 7000MB/s figure as a theoretical test result.

Final Verdict

The strongest reason to choose this enclosure is its Thunderbolt 5 connectivity paired with fan cooling and support for high-capacity NVMe storage. Get it for $159.99 if those features match your setup, with the current price below the recorded historical low.
