This week, Apple released its latest iOS update, iOS 16.4, to the public. Along with a host of new features and changes, the update expands 5G connectivity to additional users, including support on Google Fi for the first time.

One of the most notable expansions of 5G support includes Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Macau, which now have access to the feature for the first time. This follows the release of iOS 16.2 in December, which enabled 5G support in India.

For Google Fi users, options to enable 5G connectivity are now appearing in the Settings app on iPhone for users running iOS 16.4. These options can be found in the “Voice and Data” menu in the Settings app.

Furthermore, iOS 16.4 now supports 5G Standalone, a feature that was previously only offered by T-Mobile in the United States. This feature can deliver speeds of up to 3Gbps and was previously only available on flagship Samsung phones since its launch in November. With iOS 16.4, iPhones can now also enjoy the benefits of this feature.

Aside from the 5G expansion, iOS 16.4 brings a host of new features and changes, including new emoji, changes to beta testing enrollment, rich previews of Mastodon posts in Messages, and more.

Overall, iOS 16.4 is a significant update that brings a lot of new features and improvements to the iPhone experience. With expanded 5G connectivity and new features, Apple continues to improve its users' experience with each update.
