ZTE Blade S6: The 4G android smartphone with looks of an iPhone

The China-based company with headquarters in Shenzhen, ZTE is surely to raise sum buzz in the smartphone market with its new Blade S6 which shares almost the exact looks of an iPhone 6 but runs on Android Lollipop. If you haven’t heard of this powerful smartphone manufacturer before, then to add to your knowledge, ZTE is among the top five largest smartphone manufacturers in China and also steals a place in the top 10 in world ranking. The ZTE Blade S6 is sure to attract your attention with its high-end features and iPhone 6 like appearance.

Features and Specifications

The ZTE Blade S6 flaunts a 5” IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen offering a great resolution of 720 * 1280 pixels. The phone is powered by MiFavor 3.0 UI running on top of Android Lollipop 5.0.1 OS.  The phone runs on a massive 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa core processor comprising of 1.7 GHz Quad Core + 1 GHz Quad Core Cortex A53 processors and boasts an Adreno 405 GPU providing seamless experience which is quite remarkable at this price range. The Blade S6 runs on a 2GB RAM with an internal storage of 16GB which can be further increased to 64GB through the use of microSD card. The phone is preloaded with an excellent primary camera of 13MP offering an outstanding resolution of 4128 x 3096 pixels allowing low-light photography with the presence of LED flash. The camera also allows video recording at 1080p @30fps. The phone is also equipped with a decent 5MP secondary camera to take nice selfies. Connectivity aspect of the phone includes the use of dual NANO SIMs enabled with 4G internet connectivity option. Other features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS, Accelerometer, Gyroscope, etc.

Design and Quality

The ZTE Blade S6 is an exact lookalike of iPhone 6 only with a plastic body. The bright 5” screen covers most of the phone’s display with curved glass edges to offer its user a smooth feeling while using the phone. The power and volume buttons are present on the right side edge of the phone while the microSD card slot and NANO SIM slots occupy the left. On the top is a 3.5mm earjack port and located at the bottom is the microUSB port for charging as well as data transfer.

The top left corner of the rear panel is occupied by the primary camera and the LED flash. The phone though not made of great plastic build, doesn’t feel sticky during long usage thus not collecting any fingerprints. The speaker is intelligently built at the bottom right rear corner accompanied by a small bump to keep the phone elevated while it is allowed to rest on a surface. The phone is quite light and sleek weighing around 130 g flaunting a dimension of 5.67 x 2.78 x 0.30 inches.

OS and Tech

The phone runs on MiFavor 3.0 with the interface looking almost similar to that of Apple iPhone. The Blade S6 is actually powered by Android Lollipop 5.0.1 OS thus offering all functionalities of the newly launched operating system allowing the hardware to provide optimum performance. The ZTE Blade S6 features essential sensors like an Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, Gyroscope and a compass thus offering the user a complete smartphone experience and serving almost all technical needs. The handset allows the use of NANO SIMs for connectivity with 4G internet option. The Blade S6 is quite high in terms of technology offering Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi direct for faster file transfers. But then the lack of a water resistant screen in such a powerful phone might give it few negative ratings.

Camera and Multimedia

The ZTE Blade S6 boasts a 13MP primary camera which captures excellent pictures at both light-rich and low-light environments. The presence of LED flash and auto-focus add to its excellence. The primary benchmark in terms of the camera is its ability to shoot 1080p HD videos at 30fps. Other camera features include touch focus, geo-tagging and face detection. The phone is also has a 5MP front camera to allow making quality video calls. If you are a selfie-maniac then you will be pleased with your purchase as the secondary camera captures stunning photos. Both the cameras are made to capture through wide-angles. The phone is reported to support popular audio and video formats and offers local radio connectivity through FM Radio.

Battery and Memory

The phone is loaded with a 2400 mAh battery which is quite a backdrop in respect to the heavy specs of the phone but allows general use of the phone throughout the day. For heavy usage, you might just feel the need of charging twice or even thrice a day. The ZTE Blade S6 is supported by a 2GB RAM to provide seamless performance while using high-end apps. The 16GB internal ROM doesn’t make you worry about storage space as you can store numerous pictures, videos and songs with quite a few heavy apps and would still be left up with free space. If you need more of it, then the Blade S6 comes with an external memory slot which can be expandable up to 64GB to meet up your needs.
