The applications are what make the smartphone so fun to use. It’s true that most of today’s smartphones have tons of interesting features, but just imagine there are no apps. It would be boring. You should update the apps regularly because developers of the applications are constantly improving them, adding new options and features and they also fix the bugs and glitches the users experienced. For that reason, every once in a while you should check if the updates for your favorite apps are available. If you just purchased your first Android device, here is a quick guide that will show you how to update apps on Android smartphones and tablets.

Updating the apps on Android is quite simple. Here is what you need to do:

  • Open the Play Store app from the Home screen
  • When the app opens, tap on three horizontal lines in the upper-left corner to open the menu
  • Now click on My apps & games
  • Under the Installed tab, you will see all the apps you’ve downloaded
  • If the update for the app is available you will see “Update” in the app’s box
  • Tap on the app you want to update and tap “Update”
  • You can also update all the apps at once, by tapping on “Update all”.

You can also adjust the settings so that the apps can update automatically. If you want to do that, follow these steps:

  • Open the Play Store app
  • Tap on three horizontal lines in the upper-left- corner and open the menu
  • Scroll down and tap on Settings
  • Click on “Auto-update” apps
  • You can choose “Auto-update apps at any time” (the apps will update if you are connected to the Internet through cellular data or Wi-Fi), or “Auto-update apps over Wi-Fi only” (which is a better option because you will avoid any additional charges).

As you can see, the apps can update automatically, or you can update them manually. Choose the option you like and update your apps so they can run smoothly!
