Although, it has developed a voice dictation system which can transform voice into writing, but keyboard is still a main need to input characters on a device like iPhone or iPad. Moreover, this voice dictation system cannot be fully used in our daily life, foremost if we are using iPad in a public area. Of course we will not feel comfort if people around us know what are we going to write if we use this system in public area.
iPad has a native virtual keyboard inside which has became “friend” in our daily typing. iPad as a tablet device has been used by users in mobile. This thing demands comfort and ergonomic in use. it also applies for iPad keyboard. Apple made iPad keyboard with its ability adjusted to character and iPad from it self.
iPad with keyboard on potrait mode
iPad has a quite large virtual keyboard and it is provided for typing in a fast way using ten fingers as well as typing on physical keyboard on computer. The two picture above has shown you two iPad keyboard modes, landscape mode and portrait mode. Landscape mode is usually used for typing by ten fingers while portrait mode fits for some users whose still comfort typing with two fingers only. But it’s not a must. For some users maybe they want to type on iPad in landscape mode but they’re using two fingers only for some reasons, for example because they’re in a rush maybe. This matter can be fulfilled by a feature on iPad keyboard named split keyboard. This feature allows you to type by using your thumbs while the other fingers are holding iPad.
Steps to Split Keyboard on iPad for Better Typing
Preparation Step: Make Sure this feature has been activated, go to Settings >> General >> Keyboard, swipe on Split Keyboard
then enter to the application that you used to type or using keyboard.
Step 1: tap and hold the keyboard icon (1) on keyboard then choose Split.
you will see this
you can restore keyboard to normal mode with tap and hold keyboard icon then tap Merge
