Sony has announced the launch of its latest mid-range smartphone, the Xperia 10 V. It is currently the world's lightest 5,000 mAh smartphone available on the market, weighing in at 159 grams, a couple of grams lighter than its predecessor.

The new Xperia 10 V retains the Snapdragon 695 chipset and 6GB/128GB memory combination of the Xperia 10 IV. It also offers expandable storage via microSD cards.

The phone features a 1080p OLED display that measures 6.1 inches diagonally, which Sony claims is 1.5 times brighter than its previous model. However, the display only refreshes at 60Hz, which may disappoint some users. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus, while the back and frame are made of plastic to achieve the phone's lightweight.

The main camera has been upgraded, featuring a 48MP 1/2.0" sensor with 0.8µm pixels and f/1.8 lens, complete with optical image stabilization. It is accompanied by an 8MP telephoto and ultrawide duo, both with an aperture of f/2.2. The telephoto camera offers 2x reach, while the ultrawide camera provides a 120-degree field of view. The selfie camera is another 8MP unit.

The Xperia 10 V comes with a 5,000 mAh battery, with a promise to retain at least 80% capacity after three years. The charging speed has not been disclosed, but it is expected to be 21W over Power Delivery.

The phone is also equipped with IP65/68 water and dust resistance, a 3.5mm audio jack with Hi-Res audio support, and a set of front-facing stereo speakers.

The Xperia 10 V will be available for purchase in mid-June, priced at €449 in Europe. Pre-orders and availability will vary from market to market.
