Reason for android not receiving group texts from iPhone problem

In the case of iPhone messages, iMessage works routing iPhone to iPhone messages through Apple’s servers rather than sending them as actual text messages. So though you have left the iPhone and switched to Android, iMessage keeps on doing this until you tell it that you already left the iPhone as it has no way to know about it, at least for a couple of weeks. And it becomes frustrating for the users who recently switched to Android from iPhone. • Next, on the iPhone, go to Settings
  • Scroll down and tap on Messages
  • You will get to see iMessage at the top, turn this option off
  • Take out the SIM card and insert it into the android device
  • Now go to Message’s icon on your new Android phone and send messages to some of your friends who are using iPhone and see if you receive messages from them

Method 2

This method is helpful for those who have already sold out the old iPhone. You can still disable the iMessage by going to this link. Follow the steps for that:

  • Go to the above link
  • Enter your phone number in the available form
  • Click on send code
  • You will receive a confirmation code on the phone
  • Enter it in the required place in the form again and then click on submit
  • That’s it and iMessage will be deactivated within 24 hours

These are all that you have to do to deactivate the iMessage. Once you are done with the above steps, iMessage should deactivate from Apple’s server, and you will not face any issues.

  1. I wish this worked.. but it doesn’t. because your friends still have you under iMessage, doesn’t matter what your phone is set too. I switched from iPhone 10 months ago and I still don’t get some group messages because iPhone users often send group texts with iMessage. Since I am on android I do not see iMessages. but the above solution does work for 1 to 1 conversations. There is no solution to get IMessages on an android phones… not matter what trouble shooting you do.. because the problem is not on your end.. its the iPhone user sending iMessages in group chats. The only way this will ever be fixed is if iPhone automatically turns off iMessages for all users under group chats… but it never will, because apple likes that android doesn’t get iMessages.. because it frustrates android users and has them crawling back to apple… which they got sued for… but the girl lost.. obviously since apple has the deepest pockets. (BTW I even deleted my apple account completely.. still have issues.. there is no solution.. trust me.. I’ve done everything and spent many hours trying to fix this… plus my brother works for verizon.. there is no solution)

    1. John, I’ve had the same experience. However, there is one solution that I believe may work. You must sign out of iMessage on ALL of your OS X and iOS devices, follow Apple’s guide for deregistering iMessage, and last but certainly not least, ensure that anyone you have ever communicated with via iMessage has deleted all iMessage conversations you were a part of from all of their OS X and iOS devices and delete any backups of these devices that contained these conversations and delete your contact information entirely from all places they store your contact info, whether it be iCloud, Gmail contacts, Yahoo, on a device address book, everywhere.

It’s an absurd, unreasonable solution, but I suspect it will work. I’m going the simpler yet defeated route – returning my new Moto X for an iPhone 🙁

    2. I’ve done it all. I’ve researched and researched. It does not work. Unless I go to EVERY person and have them delete previous group text, you will not be included. This is not realistic. Even though you ask, there are still people who just don’t get it. 🙁 I LOVE my Droid and completely hate Apple Products–this is one more reason why. They claim to be so liberal, but they hijack the user so you cannot use any other technology. It’s scary really. Lambs to the slaughter. This issue is creepy because the average user does not understand.

  2. This happens if your friend is switching from Blackberry too..not only Android. Turn off iMessage in the settings to resolve the issue.
