Missing calls on your Redmi Note 13 Pro is a real headache, especially when you're sure the volume is up. The phone runs on Android 14 with MIUI 15, and sometimes the software's own features or a simple glitch can silence incoming calls. Let's get your ringer working again.

Check the Physical Alert Slider and Volume

First, look at the left side of your phone. The Redmi Note 13 Pro has a physical alert slider. If the slider is pushed down towards the bottom of the phone, it's in silent mode. Slide it up to enable the ringer.

Next, unlock your phone and press the volume up button on the right side. Keep pressing until you see the volume bar on screen reach its maximum. Make sure the icon next to it looks like a bell, not a music note or speaker, which indicates you're adjusting media volume instead.

You can also check this in settings. Go to Settings > Sound & vibration and adjust the "Ringtone volume" slider all the way to the right.

Turn Off Do Not Disturb and Silent Mode

MIUI's Do Not Disturb mode is a common culprit. Swipe down from the top of your screen to open the Quick Settings panel. Look for a tile with a moon icon. If it's highlighted or says "Do not disturb," tap it to turn it off.

Also, check for the "Silent mode" tile, which might be a bell with a line through it. Make sure that's toggled off as well. For a deeper check, go into Settings > Sound & vibration > Do Not Disturb.

Look at any schedules or rules that might be automatically turning it on. I'd disable any automatic rules for now to test if that's the issue.

Verify Your Ringtone and Sound Settings

Sometimes the selected ringtone file itself can cause problems. Try switching to a different one. Head to Settings > Sound & vibration, then tap Phone ringtone (labeled simply Ringtone on Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO phones).

Choose a different built-in tone and then have a friend call you to test it. Also, in the Sound settings, make sure "Vibrate for calls" is enabled if you want that extra notification.

While you're there, scroll down and tap on "Advanced settings." Ensure that "Dial-pad tones" and other sound options aren't interfering with your main ringer.

Disconnect Bluetooth Accessories

If your phone is connected to a Bluetooth headset, speaker, or your car, the call audio might be routing there silently. Pull down the Quick Settings panel again and tap the Bluetooth icon to turn it off completely.

You can also go to Settings > Bluetooth and toggle the main switch off. After disabling Bluetooth, test an incoming call to see if the ringtone now plays through the phone's speaker.

Check App-Specific Notification Permissions

The Phone app needs proper notification permissions. Go to Settings > Apps > Manage apps. Find and tap on "Phone" in the list.

Tap on "Notifications" and make sure "Allow notifications" is turned on. Also, check that the "Incoming calls" channel is enabled and set to make a sound. Sometimes an update can reset these.

Do the same for any other calling apps you use, like WhatsApp or Telegram, if calls from those contacts aren't ringing.

Look for Blocked Numbers and Call Settings

You might have accidentally blocked the number trying to reach you. Open the Phone app and tap the three-dot menu in the top right. Go to Settings > Blocked numbers to review the list.

Also, check for call forwarding. In the Phone app's settings, look for "Call forwarding" and ensure it's not set to forward all calls to another number, which would prevent your phone from ringing.

Another MIUI feature to check is "Auto-reject calls." In the Phone app settings, find this option and make sure it's not set to reject calls from unknown numbers or other filters that are too broad.

Disable MIUI Optimizations and Battery Saver

MIUI's aggressive battery optimization can sometimes stop apps, including the Phone app, from working in the background. Go to Settings > Battery.

First, make sure "Power saver" or "Ultra battery saver" modes are turned off. Then, tap on "App battery saver." Find "Phone" in the list and set it to "No restrictions" instead of "Smart" or "Restrict."

This tells the system not to limit the Phone app's background activity, which is crucial for receiving calls.

Restart Your Redmi Note 13 Pro

A simple reboot can clear out temporary software glitches that affect the ringer. Just press and hold the power button until the power menu appears, then tap "Restart."

If the phone is completely unresponsive, you can force a restart. Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds or until you feel the phone vibrate and see the Redmi logo appear on screen.

Update Your Software

Xiaomi regularly releases MIUI updates that fix bugs. Connect to Wi-Fi, then go to Settings > About phone > MIUI version.

Tap "Check for updates." If an update is available, download and install it. It's a good idea to plug in your 67W charger during this process, as the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 can use a fair bit of power during updates.

Reset App Preferences

This resets all your app permissions, notification settings, and default apps without deleting any personal data. It can fix issues where system settings have become corrupted.

Go to Settings > Apps > Manage apps. Tap the three-dot menu in the top right and select "Reset app preferences." Confirm the action. You'll need to re-allow notifications for your apps afterward.

Check for SIM Card Issues

Remove the SIM tray using the ejector tool and take out the SIM card. Gently clean the metal contacts on the SIM with a soft, dry cloth and then reinsert it firmly.

After reinserting the SIM, restart your phone. You can also try going to Settings > SIM cards & mobile networks and selecting your SIM to make sure "Enable" is toggled on and "VoLTE calls" is enabled for better call connectivity.

Boot into Safe Mode

Safe mode disables all third-party apps. If your phone rings normally in safe mode, a recently installed app is likely causing the conflict. To enter safe mode, press and hold the power button until the power menu appears.

Then, press and hold the "Power off" option on screen. A prompt will ask if you want to reboot to safe mode. Tap "OK." Test a call in this mode. To exit, just restart the phone normally.

Reset All Network Settings

This will reset Wi-Fi, mobile data, and Bluetooth settings back to default. Go to Settings > Connection & sharing > Reset Wi-Fi, mobile networks & Bluetooth.

Tap "Reset settings" and confirm. You'll need to reconnect to your Wi-Fi networks and re-pair Bluetooth devices afterward, but it can resolve deeper connectivity issues affecting calls.

Perform a Factory Reset

This is a last resort. A factory reset will erase all data on your phone, so you must back up everything important first. Use Xiaomi Cloud or transfer files to a computer.

Once backed up, go to Settings > About phone > Factory reset. Tap "Erase all data" and follow the prompts. After the reset, set up the phone as new and test the ringer before restoring your backup, in case the backup contains the problematic setting.
