Pros and cons of Uber

Uber is one of the most popular ride-sharing services that has changed the personal transportation industry over the years. Instead of standing on the streets trying to catch a cab, you open the Uber app and request a vehicle.

The driver will pick you up at your current location and take you to the desired one. It is all pretty simple and hassle-free. However, like any other service, this one has its advantages and its own set of drawbacks. In this article, we will share the list of pros and cons of Uber.

Advantages and disadvantages of Uber

Uber is a company that allows you to sign up and become a driver, or you can also be the customer that will request the vehicle. It is currently available in 80 countries and over 10,000 cities. Over 14 million trips are completed every single day.

Pros of Uber

Let's list a couple of great things about Uber first.

Simple and easy to use

Most of us remember standing on the street trying to catch a cab or calling a taxi company for a ride. Uber makes things a lot easier and simpler. You need to have an Uber account and your Android or iPhone app. All you need to do is open the app and request a vehicle. You will receive confirmation that the ride was accepted by one of the drivers.

A driver will pick you up at your current location and take you to the desired location. So, no need to stand on the streets and wave, hoping that the taxi coming your way is empty.

Cashless

Another thing that makes Uber so convenient is the fact that it is cashless. Once you open the account, you will be able to add your card. Once the ride ends, the sum will be taken from your account. The receipt will be sent to your email. All you need to do when the drive comes to an end is walk out of the vehicle. No cash, no change. Simple as that.

Price of the service

Compared to the price of a taxi service, Uber is more affordable. That is one of the biggest reasons many people switched from taxis to ride-sharing services. After all, the budget plays a significant role when buying something, and the same goes for the services we select. So, instead of paying more, we spend less to get the service we need and want.

Great service

Another pro of Uber is its excellent service. The drivers are professional and polite. Sure, you may stumble upon a nervous or unprofessional one. When the ride ends, you get the opportunity to rate the driver's performance. The company looks at the ratings the drivers get and if the ratings are consistently low, the driver will have to leave the company.

That way, the company ensures professional service to its customers.

Clean vehicles

People from all around the globe where Uber operates have the same opinion when comparing the Uber vehicles and taxi vehicles and how clean they are. Most people agree that Uber vehicles are a lot cleaner than vehicles of taxi drivers, which of course, makes the ride more comfortable.

Cons of Uber

As you can see, the service has a lot of positives, but there are some disadvantages as well.

Scams by drivers

It is not always all bright and sunny. Some customers reported that they had been scammed by the drivers who decided to choose a longer route for the ride, and as a result, people had to pay a lot more than they should. But we can't say this is the disadvantage of Uber only. Unfortunately, this goes for a taxi as well.

Taxi drivers often do the same, especially when they notice a new person in the city who isn't sure which route is better.

Safety

Many people have safety concerns and are still hesitant to use the service. They are not willing to try Uber out. It is because some users had terrible experiences in the past. The company is trying its best to select the drivers carefully, but there might be someone who can cause trouble.

Cancelations

Here is another disadvantage. Uber drivers may cancel the ride. Of course, this can affect the plans of the customers. If you have a flight or an important meeting, perhaps another transport option could be more convenient. While cancelations happen rarely, they can still occur, and if you don't want your plans to be disrupted, perhaps you may consider using another option.
