Missing calls on your POCO F6 can be incredibly annoying, especially when you're expecting something important. You check your phone and see a missed call notification, but you never heard a sound. The good news is this is almost always a settings issue or a minor software glitch that you can fix yourself.

I'd start by checking the most obvious things first, like your volume and silent mode. Android phones, especially with custom skins like HyperOS, have a few different ways to mute themselves that can be easy to miss.

Check Your Volume and Silent Mode

First, unlock your POCO F6 and press the volume up button on the side. You should see a volume slider appear on the screen. Make sure it's set to a high level, not all the way down. Sometimes the media volume and ringer volume can get mixed up, so it's worth checking the settings directly.

Go to Settings > Sound & vibration. Here, you can adjust the Ring volume slider. Drag it all the way to the right. Also, look for a setting called "Vibrate for calls" and make sure it's enabled if you want that extra alert.

Don't forget about the physical alert slider. On the POCO F6, you can toggle between Ring, Vibrate, and Silent modes by pressing the volume buttons and then tapping the icon that pops up on the screen, or by going into the quick settings panel. Ensure it's not set to Silent.

Disable Do Not Disturb and Focus Modes

HyperOS has a Do Not Disturb mode that silences all calls and notifications. If this is on, you won't hear your ringer. Swipe down from the top of your screen to open the notification shade, then swipe down again to see the full quick settings tiles.

Look for a tile labeled "Do Not Disturb" or one with a moon icon. If it's highlighted or says it's active, tap it to turn it off. You should also check for scheduled times.

Go to Settings > Sound & vibration > Do Not Disturb. Make sure the main toggle at the top is off. Scroll down and check "Scheduled" to see if you've accidentally set it to turn on automatically at certain times, like during the night.

Review Your Sound and Ringtone Settings

Sometimes the issue is with the ringtone file itself. Try changing it to a different one. Head to Settings > Sound & vibration, then tap Phone ringtone (labeled simply Ringtone on Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO phones). Pick a new, distinct ringtone from the list and tap OK.

While you're there, check if "Increasing ring volume" is turned on. This feature starts the ringtone quietly and gets louder, which can sometimes make it easy to miss the first second of a call. You might want to turn it off for a more immediate, consistent ring.

Also, look in Settings > Notifications & status bar > App notifications. Find your Phone app in the list and tap on it. Ensure that "Allow notifications" is enabled and that the "Sound" option is checked for incoming calls.

Disconnect Bluetooth Accessories

If your POCO F6 is connected to a Bluetooth device like headphones, a speaker, or your car's audio system, incoming call audio is often routed there instead of the phone's speaker. This is a very common reason for a silent phone.

Swipe down to open the quick settings and tap the Bluetooth icon to turn it off temporarily. You can also go to Settings > Connected devices > Connection preferences > Bluetooth and toggle it off. Try making a test call with Bluetooth disabled to see if the ringer works normally.

Check for Blocked Numbers and Call Settings

You might have accidentally blocked the person who's calling, or have a setting enabled that filters calls. Open your Phone app and tap the three-dot menu in the top right, then go to Settings > Blocked numbers. See if the number is listed there.

Another feature to check is call forwarding. In the Phone app settings, look for "Call forwarding" or "Additional settings". Make sure it's not set to forward all your calls to another number, which would prevent your F6 from ringing.

Also, look for a setting like "Silence unknown callers" or "Caller ID & spam protection". These can send calls from numbers not in your contacts straight to voicemail. Disable them temporarily to test.

Restart Your POCO F6

A simple restart can clear out temporary software bugs that might be interfering with the ringer. Just press and hold the power button until the power menu appears, then tap "Restart". If your phone is completely unresponsive, you can force a restart by holding the power button down for about 15 seconds until you feel it vibrate and see the POCO logo.

Update Your Phone's Software

Software updates often include bug fixes for issues just like this. Make sure your POCO F6 is running the latest version of HyperOS. Connect to Wi-Fi and go to Settings > About phone > HyperOS version.

Tap on "Check for updates". If an update is available, download and install it. Your phone will restart during this process. It's a good idea to have it plugged into its included 90W charger while updating, just to be safe.

Check App-Specific Permissions

If you're not hearing rings from internet calling apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, or Facebook Messenger, the problem is likely with that specific app. First, open the Google Play Store, tap your profile icon, and go to "Manage apps & device" to see if there are updates available for those apps.

Then, go to Settings > Apps > Manage apps. Find the app (like WhatsApp) in the list and tap on it. Go to Notifications and ensure notifications are enabled. Look for a specific notification category for "Incoming calls" or "Voice calls" and make sure it's set to make a sound.

Reset App Preferences or Network Settings

This is a less intrusive reset that won't delete your personal data. It resets all your app permissions, notification settings, and default apps back to their factory state. Go to Settings > Apps > Manage apps.

Tap the three-dot menu in the top right and select "Reset app preferences". Confirm. You'll need to re-grant permissions to apps afterward, but it can resolve conflicts causing sound issues.

If you're having trouble with carrier calls, resetting network settings can help. Go to Settings > Connection & sharing > Reset Wi-Fi, mobile networks & Bluetooth. This will erase all saved Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth pairings, so you'll have to reconnect to them.

Boot into Safe Mode

Safe mode starts your phone with all third-party apps disabled. If the ringer works in safe mode, then a recently installed app is causing the problem. To enter safe mode, press and hold the power button until the power menu appears.

Then, press and hold the "Power off" option on your screen. A prompt will ask if you want to reboot to safe mode. Tap OK. Your phone will restart with "Safe mode" visible in the bottom corner. Test a call now. To exit, just restart your phone normally.

Consider a Factory Reset

If you've tried everything else and the ringer still won't work, a factory reset is the final step. This will erase all data from your phone, so it is absolutely crucial to back up everything important first. Use Xiaomi's cloud backup or transfer files to a computer.

Once backed up, go to Settings > About phone > Factory reset. Tap "Erase all data" and follow the prompts. After the reset, set up your phone as new and test the ringer immediately before restoring your apps, to see if the problem is truly gone.
