If your OnePlus Open is plugged in but the battery percentage is barely moving, it's not getting the 67W SUPERVOOC speed it's designed for. This can be incredibly frustrating when you're used to a quick top-up. The good news is, the fix is usually simple and involves checking the gear you're using or a setting on the phone itself.

Start with the Official 67W SUPERVOOC Charger

For the fastest possible charge, you must use the specific 67W charger that came in the box. OnePlus's SUPERVOOC technology relies on a proprietary handshake between the phone and its official adapter. Using a standard USB-C PD charger from another brand will work, but it will charge at a much slower, standard speed.

Check the adapter in your hand. It should clearly say "SUPERVOOC" and "67W" on it. If you're using a different brick, even a high-wattage one, that's likely the root of your slow charging issue. I'd start by swapping back to the original charger.

Inspect the USB-C Cable

The cable matters just as much as the brick. The included red USB-C to USB-C cable is specially designed to handle the high current of SUPERVOOC charging. Over time, cables can fray or the connectors can loosen, which interrupts that fast-charging protocol.

Try the original cable first. If you're using a different one, even a high-quality third-party cable, it might not support the full 67W speed. Look for any visible damage, especially near the ends where the cable bends. A damaged cable will force the phone to charge at a safe, slow rate.

Clean the USB-C Port Carefully

Pocket lint and dust love to get packed into the charging port. Over time, this creates a physical barrier that prevents the cable from seating fully. A poor connection means the phone and charger can't communicate properly, and fast charging gets disabled.

Power off your OnePlus Open first. Then, use a wooden toothpick or a soft-bristled brush to gently scrape around the sides and bottom of the port. Be very careful not to damage the central pin. You'll be surprised how much material can come out. After cleaning, plug the cable back in until it clicks firmly into place.

Remove Your Phone Case During Charging

Thick or poorly ventilated cases trap heat. Fast charging generates warmth, and if the phone gets too hot, it will automatically throttle the charging speed to protect the battery. This is a safety feature, not a bug.

If your phone feels warm to the touch while charging, take it out of its case. Let it charge on a hard, cool surface like a table or countertop, not on a bed or sofa which can insulate heat. You should notice the charging speed pick up as the temperature drops.

Perform a Force Restart

Sometimes, a minor software glitch can interfere with the power management system. A quick reboot can clear this up. Press and hold the Power button on the right side of the phone for about 10 seconds, or until you see the OnePlus logo appear and the phone restarts.

This doesn't erase any data. It's just a fresh start for the system processes that handle charging. After it boots back up, plug it in again and see if the fast charging indicator appears.

Check for a Software Update

OnePlus releases updates through OxygenOS that can optimize battery performance and charging algorithms. An outdated system might have a bug affecting charging speed. To check, go to Settings > About device > OxygenOS version > CHECK FOR UPDATE.

If an update is available, install it. It's a good idea to plug your phone in during the update process. After the update completes, test your charging speed again.

Avoid Using the Phone While It's Plugged In

Demanding tasks like gaming, video editing, or even just having the inner display open and bright will use a lot of power. The charger has to split its effort between replenishing the battery and powering the phone, which slows down the overall charging rate.

For the absolute fastest charge, let the phone sit idle. If you need to use it, try to keep the inner display closed and use the cover screen for lighter tasks, which consumes less power and generates less heat.

Examine Your Charging Environment

Are you charging in direct sunlight, in a hot car, or next to a heating vent? High ambient temperatures force the phone to slow down charging to prevent overheating. Similarly, make sure the charger itself is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not into a power strip that might be overloaded or a low-quality extension cord.

The charger brick should also be in a well-ventilated spot. If it's covered by a rug or tucked behind furniture, it can overheat and reduce its power output. A cool environment for both the phone and the charger is key for maximum speed.

Look for the SUPERVOOC Animation

When you plug in with the correct gear, you should see a special charging animation on the lock screen that says "SUPERVOOC" with a lightning bolt. If you only see a simple lightning bolt or a "Charging" message, it's not fast charging. This visual cue is the easiest way to confirm the fast-charging protocol is active.

If you don't see the animation, unplug and try reseating the cable at both ends, in the phone and the charger. Ensure there's no debris preventing a perfect connection. The animation is your confirmation that you're getting the full 67W speed.

Test with a Different Outlet and Adapter

Finally, rule out external factors. Try a different wall outlet in another room. If possible, test with another known-good SUPERVOOC charger from a friend or family member with a OnePlus device. This will tell you if the problem is with your specific charging kit or with the phone itself.

If the phone fast charges perfectly with a different official charger and cable, then your original adapter or cable has likely failed and needs to be replaced. OnePlus's fast charging is robust, but the specialized components can wear out.
