Ubisoft's open-world racer The Crew Motorfest arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 8, priced at $49.99. The catch: the physical edition ships as a Game-Key Card, meaning the box contains a code rather than a playable cartridge.
Insider billbil_kun broke the news earlier today via Dealabs, and Ubisoft confirmed the port shortly after. The French publisher and developer Ubisoft Ivory Tower are bringing the 2023 title to Nintendo's latest hardware three years after its original release on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. The $49.99 price tag reflects both the Game-Key Card format (Nintendo's cost-reduced physical option that requires a full download) and the game's age.
By the time it lands on Switch 2, The Crew Motorfest will be three years old and deep into Year 3 of seasonal content. That timing works in Ubisoft's favor. With no Forza Horizon 6 announced for Switch 2 and Mario Kart World already saturating the arcade racing audience, Motorfest fills a specific gap: an open-world driving game built around car culture playlists, Hawaiian exploration, and competitive online modes like Grand Race (28-player races) and Demolition Royale (eight-team vehicle combat).
The Switch 2 version requires a persistent internet connection to play, which limits its portability appeal. Ubisoft is offering a five-hour free trial for new players to test the waters before committing.
This marks one of the first major third-party racing ports for Switch 2, signaling Ubisoft's confidence in the platform's install base. Pre-orders are expected to open alongside today's official announcement.
