Tesla's expansion into three-row family SUVs arrives in Singapore just as Mitsubishi raises prices for its refreshed Outlander plug-in hybrid in the United States.

The Tesla Model Y LWB debuted there this week with a S$248,999 starting price (inclusive of COE), marking Tesla's first vehicle with more than five seats available through official channels in the market. The long-wheelbase variant stretches 179mm longer than standard versions and adds a third row of seating.

Singaporean buyers get six individual chairs instead of conventional benches, with second-row seats featuring powered extendable arm rests plus heating and ventilation. Third-row passengers receive electrically reclinable backrests with dedicated USB-C charging ports embedded in seat bases.

Meanwhile across the Pacific, Mitsubishi announced a $2,800 price increase for its 2026 Outlander Plug-In Hybrid. The refreshed SUV starts at $44,990 including destination fees, up from $42,190 for the 2025 version according to Kelley Blue Book data.

The 2026 Outlander PHEV arrives with a completely redesigned interior matching updates introduced on gas-powered models last year. Four trim levels will be available: ES, SE, SEL, and a new-for-2026 Black Edition.

Tesla's Singapore launch vehicle packs a dual-motor all-wheel drive system producing 378 kW (507 bhp) and 590 Nm of torque, enabling a five-second zero-to-100 km/h sprint. An enlarged 88 kWh battery delivers 681 km of WLTP-rated range while supporting DC charging at up to 250 kW.

Mitsubishi's competitor uses a different approach with gasoline-electric powertrain flexibility. The company claims its closest rival, the Kia Sorento PHEV, starts nearly $5,000 higher while not matching the Outlander's horsepower, all-electric range or fuel economy figures.

Singapore customers can view the Model Y LWB at Tesla Experience Centres starting March 28 with first deliveries expected during the second quarter. American buyers will find updated Outlander PHEVs at U.S. dealerships beginning in May.
