Sony filed a trademark for "Break In" in the US and Europe on May 20, and the evidence points to one conclusion: Fairgame$ is getting a rebrand. The application, submitted by Sony Interactive Entertainment, covers "video game software" with no further details, but the timing is telling. The company announced a 60-minute State of Play for June 2, and trademark filings this close to a broadcast are rarely coincidental.

Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, known for his sourcing on unannounced projects, effectively confirmed the connection. On ResetEra, Schreier responded to speculation with a single post: "Br€ak In", the euro symbol replacing the 'e' a direct callback to Fairgame$ and its dollar-sign naming.

Fairgame$ was unveiled in May 2023 as a competitive heist game from Haven Entertainment Studios, the studio founded by former Assassin's Creed producer Jade Raymond. The reveal was widely panned, VICE described it as looking "rough," and the title went largely dark for three years. The rebranding fits a pattern: Sony has struggled to build its live-service portfolio, taking a $765 million impairment loss on Bungie's underperforming projects and shutting down the Concord disaster from Firewalk Studios. A fresh name, and likely a reworked vision, gives Haven a clean slate ahead of a proper re-reveal.

Originally described as a competitive heist game where players rob banks and vaults, extraction shooter elements were reportedly added later as a dedicated mode. "Break In" matches that premise while dropping the awkward punctuation. The June 2 State of Play will feature over an hour of updates from top studios worldwide. If the rebrand is indeed the Fairgame$ revival, it could anchor the show's live-service segment alongside other PlayStation Studios projects. The company has not commented on the trademark or its connection to Haven's game.
