Samsung's Galaxy S27 lineup is shaping up to be more than a spec bump. Leaks from Weibo tipster ilce Universe and multiple industry sources point to a fourth model, the Galaxy S27 Pro, that won't just be a smaller Ultra it will carry its own camera identity.
Camera hardware is the dividing line. Both the Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra are expected to share upgraded primary and ultrawide sensors, but the Pro reportedly uses a different telephoto lens than its bigger sibling. That means Samsung is treating the Pro as a distinct device, not a cost-cut alternative. The Ultra itself may drop from four rear cameras to three, according to GSMArena, while gaining significantly improved main and ultrawide hardware. The Pro targets a specific gap in Samsung's lineup. With a rumored 6.4-inch display, it offers a compact form factor for users who want premium features without the Ultra's bulk.
Samsung may exclude the S Pen from the Pro, freeing internal space for a larger battery in a slim chassis. The expected price range of $1,099 to $1,199 would slot it between the Plus and Ultra models. A Privacy Display feature, first introduced with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, could carry over to the Pro. The technology lets users control screen viewing angles to block prying eyes in public, a practical addition for a device pitched as portable and premium. The Galaxy S27 Ultra is meanwhile targeting a different audience entirely. A 200-megapixel sensor with mechanical variable aperture could dynamically adjust light intake for low-light shots. The 10-megapixel 3x telephoto lens may be replaced by advanced digital zoom. A 5,500 mAh silicon-carbon battery and Qi2 wireless charging round out the flagship package.
Both models are expected to run on a custom Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor built on TSMC's 2nm process, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR6 RAM and Android 17 with One UI 9.0. Samsung is promising seven years of OS and security updates.
Based on past launch cadence, the Galaxy S27 series is expected in the first quarter of 2027.
