Samsung's first smart glasses will rely on a compact 245mAh battery to balance functionality with wearability, according to specifications that leaked alongside details for the upcoming Galaxy Watch 9. The Galaxy Glasses (model EB-O200) will reportedly use the small cell identified by part number EB-BO200CAY.
A Samsung executive previously confirmed an eye-level camera for the device, which earlier reports suggest could be a 12-megapixel sensor. Microphones, speakers, and a touch-sensitive control area are also expected on the glasses, which will run Android XR and use Google's Gemini for AI tasks.
Samsung has confirmed partnerships with fashion eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to design multiple styles, including a sunglasses variant.
Meanwhile, the larger 44mm version of the Galaxy Watch 9 will reportedly carry a 435mAh battery (EB-BL355BAY). That rated capacity would likely translate to slightly higher marketed numbers and represents an increase over the battery used in last year's Galaxy Watch 8.
Both devices are scheduled for launch in the second half of this year alongside Samsung's next foldable phones. The smartwatch will come in two sizes, 40mm and 44mm, and may continue using Samsung's Exynos W1000 processor or an improved version.
Samsung recently revealed its next premium smartwatch platform will use Qualcomm's Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, though that hardware is expected to debut first in the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 rather than the standard Galaxy Watch 9.
