Rhythm Heaven Groove launches on July 2 for the original Nintendo Switch, marking what could be the final first-party Nintendo release for the platform that launched nine years ago. The rhythm game arrives exclusively on Switch 1, though it will be playable on Switch 2 through backward compatibility.

Nintendo has not yet published the full Japanese eShop release schedule for the week of July 2, 2026, but the lineup is expected when the company updates its digital storefront later this week. Based on the current schedule, Rhythm Heaven Groove is the headlining title.

The game features music by renowned Japanese composer Tsunku and tasks players with timing button presses to the beat across a collection of rhythm games. Stages include chopping flying veggies, bouncing fruit, and flapping along with birds in flight.

"An underrated jewel in Nintendo's IP catalogue."

Nintendo Life July is shaping up to be one of the busiest months for Nintendo's ecosystem. Splatoon Raiders, a campaign-focused single-player spin-off of the inky shooter series, arrives July 23 on Switch 2 alongside a trio of Deep Cut amiibo.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition follows on July 30, while Digimon Story: Time Stranger hits July 10.

Third-party releases for the week include Mouse: P.I. For Hire on Switch 2 and The Witch's Bakery on both platforms.

HORI is also launching a line of Switch 2 accessories on July 2, including a Kirby-themed Vault Case, a wireless HORIPAD Turbo, and a Puff Pouch.

Star Fox launched on Switch 2 June 25 with a free playable demo available on the eShop. The remake of Star Fox 64 keeps the original level layouts but adds current-gen visuals, difficulty options, and new modes. That release capped off the most software-dense month in Switch 2's short history, with 13 confirmed titles spanning first-party exclusives, third-party ports, and Switch 2 Edition upgrades across a five-week window.

The Switch 2 itself crossed 19.86 million units sold by March 31, 2026, making it one of the fastest-selling Nintendo home consoles ever. Nintendo announced a price increase to $499.99 effective September 1, 2026 in the US, with Japan's increase to ¥59,980 taking effect earlier on May 25.
