Lately, there have been whispers about the Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus potentially ditching a Sony main camera sensor in favor of the familiar Samsung ISOCELL sensor. Initially met with skepticism due to Samsung's historical use of in-house sensors, a new report from leaker Revegnus suggests a different turn of events.
Revegnus now hints that the Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus might indeed opt for the 50MP Samsung ISOCELL sensor, particularly the ISOCELL GN3 sensor. While this choice might seem disappointing to some, given that the ISOCELL GN3 is currently employed in the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus and is anticipated for the upcoming Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus, it's important to note potential improvements.
Although the ISOCELL GN3 shares similarities with the ISOCELL GN5 found in the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus, boasting the same sensor size and pixel size, the GN3 promises enhanced autofocus and a higher burst mode frame rate on paper.
However, with the Galaxy S25 series expected to launch in January 2025, there's a significant timeline ahead, leaving room for changes and refinements in the camera setup. While the current outlook might seem familiar, it's crucial to stay tuned for updates as the launch date approaches.
